In 2026 I hope to claw my company back to sustainability. I have incurred some corporate debt and need to make more games for folks to buy!

American friends; if you want a hardcopy of After the War or Once More Into the Void, I encourage you to buy it soon from our friends at @ipr.bsky.social as there is no guarantee our sales numbers are enough to keep them in stock in 2026. www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Genesi...

The one silver lining to the absurdity of modern copyright law is that it forces us to pay attention to more historical media including some classic literature. I never considered digging into The Sound and the Fury or A Farewell to Arms till it started entering the public domain.

FWIW, I've never had a year typify "You do not rise to the level of your goals, you fail to the level of your systems" more than 2025. Emotionally and energy wise --fires and fascism factored in -- I've never been more punched out. But I worked and lined up more work based on old habits saving me.

I must say that it is a blessed relief to have the words flow like water and the game design fall into place. The Dragon's Dungeon is looking good.

Never skip the press proof before the final print run. You'll always catch something in the demo book or zine that you'd regret seeing in the final product.

Have read the transcript, the content of this video looks absolutely vital as a historical document and broader exploration of the Indie ttrpg design community. Thank you @aavoigt.bsky.social and all your interviewees.
My End of Year video is on the "Golden Age of Indie RPGs," from roughly 2010 to 2025. I start with Apocalypse World's release, work through the Google+ Era, and follow design lineages and historical events that have impacted the hobby up through 2025.

There are so many industry friends I just won't get to meet in the next few years despite them living in our neighbouring country

It has me heartbroken some days. It's genuinely too unsafe. Please bear that in mind as you plan events in the USA. So many more of us legitimately can't go now

Another excellent post from @seraphimseraphina.bsky.social and I absolutely agree that the more nuanced approach for inquiry is valuable.

I tend to find "support" less as a moral judgement and more as a way of communicating how much design effort has been directed towards facilitating x playstyle.

I've been thinking a lot about Batfam headcanons, cozy roleplay in D&D, and what it means to assert whether or not a game supports a certain kind of play. So I wrote down my thoughts and turned them into an inaugural post on my new itch blog! seraphim-seraphina.itch.io/my-blog/devl...
What do we mean when we say a game “supports” play?

One of the most innovative CRPGs of all time, Disco Elysium, is free on the Epic Game Store today. Strongly recommend people check this out if they haven't yet. It has ACAB, class conflict, socialism (complimentary), liberalism (not complimentary), no combat (though there is one violent scene)
