one of my favorite things is that if you look at Lego ads from 15 years ago they were still trying to market sets like this as for kids, and now they feature pictures of guys who have good accountancy jobs.

Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

the thing is as well that without exaggerating even one bit, western europeans have so totally cooked the task of maintaining a general baseline degree of civic virtue that i fully do not trust that outside the nordics they actually have what it takes /spiritually/ to fight a war with russia

think this is something that white people/non-migrants maybe don't always get, more broadly - can't speak for all immigrants, of course, or for all non-white people, but even I, arguably the single most white-passing mixed race person to ever do it, will hear that stuff and take it pretty personally
Very revealing that several Germans have got in touch to say that their chancellor’s comments about migrants were not directed at me. First of all, that would imply I shouldn’t care. Secondly, to imply that non-white races are inherently more likely to commit crime is an attack on *all* migrants.
