Things I love: movies, physical media, spooky season, clean water, healthy forests, fresh bread and cheese, equality, funding social services. Caring is radical. You should try it!

It's been taken down, but this sort of thing boils my blood.

My family wonders why I'm so loud about genAI, because they find it cute. GenAI feeds on the IP of real, hardworking artists in order to produce mass amounts of crap.

Glad the thing was suspended at least. Keep being loud, folks.
The freaking nerve. I don’t want to advertise them but they have other projects that they probably stole too

Idk if you can report it too or find them but god knows I really crave violence rn

Welp I was in a bike accident and my body is messed up. My helmet saved my life. I have a mild concussion, rotator cuff injury and very gnarly & painful bruising on my hip. I can't work for a few weeks, so if you've ever thought about sending me $ or joining my Patreon, now is a really good time 🙏

Everyone said it was great but I still wasn’t prepared for how great One Battle After Another was. The score! I actually wonder if they marketed this poorly because they felt they couldn’t market what it really was. Anyway, it fucking ruled and you should go see it. #filmsky #OneBattleAfterAnother

You know, we could have easily been in a situation where Greg Mottola and Jon Hamm would be turning out Fletch movies every couple of years. What a great time we'd have had! But no. It's all AI and cryptocurrency for us.

I don't really see the point of these things, but I do see the point in nurturing a love of going to the movies.

(Also: after seeing the Tron: Ares trailer before M:I, my niece said she wanted to watch Tron: Legacy with me. My uncle heart grew three sizes that day.) #HowToTrainYourDragon

Using AI is basically crossing a digital picket line, and treating authors who use it like scabs feels appropriate.
If you care about your rights and the rights of other creatives, you don't use generative AI under any circumstances (marketing, editing, drafting, outlining, artwork, narration, etc.)
Very weird to see writers cheering for A.I. audiobooks. This is the same horrible machine that they want to replace YOU. Audiobook narrators are your peers.

On the way home from #Sinners:

My wife: You're in a good mood.

Me: Yeah, because that movie was fucking amazing.

(Best time I've had at the theatre in a while. I cried at how good one scene was. This was made by wildly talented people who absolutely wanted to entertain the hell out of you. A+)

Okay. Let me tell you a little bit about Gene Hackman...

I cried when I heard the news this morning. But then I scrolled through all my movie notes mentioning him and had to laugh because of how much joy his work has brought me. The man helped make pandemic lockdowns bearable, even joyous, and I'll always be grateful. #filmsky #genehackman
