I still remember when Tony Dokoupil did a CBS This Morning segment on redlining where he:

a) laid out how his white family benefited from redlining
b) uncritically gobbled up his elder relatives' explanations that they had *no idea* there was racial discrimination going on
White Americans confront legacy of housing discrimination
Tony Dokoupil reflects on how his family benefited from government housing policies that were denied to Black Americans. He looks at how those policies contributed to America's wealth gap and asks what should be done about it. omg the prez is buying my two favorite rock-type pokemon
per @cqzakrz.bsky.social, who's filing White House pool reports today, Trump has stopped at a shopping center in Florida + a White House official says the president is buying "marble and onyx, at his own expense, for the White House Ballroom."

"When it happens, Republicans will object (and you can only imagine the meltdown Trump himself will have on Truth Social). The response Dems give should be simple: *Too bad. We have the power now.* A strong message must be sent to the country and future generations that Trump will not be honored."
Why every vestige of Trump must be torn down
He's trying to create a physical legacy. The moment he's out of power, it has to be smashed to bits.

The revelation of who is desperate to solve America’s divide by simply forgiving all the bad guys is noteworthy.

This as a bar is the most brain dead post-Trump-conservative-brain take: “Hey, they voted to reinstate segregation *legally* AKA the right way, give them credit!”

Not often you actually get to reference a piece of television “the government doesn’t want you to see,” but here we go:

Journalism was gutted into a shell of itself after selling out to big tech and private equity.

Film/TV was gutted into a shell of itself after selling out to big tech and private equity.

If you love something, the worst choice you can make is to sell it to someone who doesn’t love it at all.

The administration pretty openly put out a selectively redacted set of files as “Clinton Bait to stop you from asking where Trump is and why so many adult men are redacted” and it’s interesting to note which large news orgs are chomping down on that hook.

I've seen this flying around -- it's not an accident. Letterman used to do this too sometimes: just for fun, or out of boredom, or sometimes just as like an inside joke, late night staffs hosts will do the same joke over and over. Watch how Steve Higgins reacts the third time.

There's a series of things (like the ballroom, Gulf of America) that we're going to have to *undo* the moment this guy is out of office.
And yet I can already hear future Democrat presidents saying "I'm focused on the people's work, not the knucklehead stuff" and just leave this man's shit up.

We need an end-of-year game show where late night writers have to try to remember details from this year's stories.

This guy comes up to me, this huge executive, super powerful guy, tears in his eyes, he says “Mr Iwinski, I need you to take this showrunner job. I know there are so many qualified white guys out there but I don’t care, I have to give this to you, sir. If it’s not black, I send it back.” True story!

Such an embarrassing indictment of our government top to bottom.

The WH says they’re going to do a thing they legally can’t do… and you just go do it for them. If Trump demanded a book burning they’d have the gas cans filled within the hour.

Why have laws when no one follows them?

Again, this “we just need to talk” claptrap that’s permeated everyone from West Wing fanboys to faux-intellectual righties fundamentally ignores a moral reality, where someone has considered both positions, judged them by an immutable moral code, and come to their only acceptable conclusion.
