💡 Talk about a lightbulb moment! 💡

This clever broad-tailed hummingbird built a cozy nest right on top of a cafe light—front porch innovation at its finest.

Proof that even tiny birds have big ideas!

broad-tailed hummingbirds built a nest atop a tea light on a friend's front porch. one bird fledged yesterday, and one kiddo (who I saw flying, too) was hanging around for more food from mom #birds

Chickweed Geometer, but make it fashion! 💄

This moth struts garden runways with hot pink “lipstick” stripes, and its caterpillars love actual chickweed.
Iconic snacker, iconic style.

Who wore it best—moth or garden? 🌸🦋

Hadn't seen a Chickweed Geometer in awhile and said so out loud as I approached the front door ... and hey presto! This one comes with extra lipstick.

Harebells vs. Hairballs.
Talk amongst yourselves...🤣🌸🐈

Note: if you garden and have a cat - you just may enjoy both!
Is there a wildflower more evocative of long summer days than the beautiful Harebell?! Campanula rotundifolia is of course also known as the Scottish Bluebell. The challenge this week is to see if you can find one for #Wildflowerhour! Share your pics this Sunday 8-9pm! 💙

How is this not a traveling exhibit throughout the schools and churches of Ireland?
Or, how about a pub crawl? So many pubs....
Surely each destination could host ol' Woolie for a week or two.
Lean in on the woollen map!
🍻Raise a pint if you agree!🍻

🌼 Are there times when you avoid your garden due to allergies? 🤧

Feast your eyes on this 1837 illustration of pollen grains. Those wild spikes aren’t just for show—they’re why pollen clings everywhere all season long.

Last week's word: snow.
This week's word: mud.
But hellebores are peeking up at the world, maybe they'll bloom soon, usually they already are... pic from last year at this time.

Calling all nature-lovers.
Here’s a lovely account to follow.
We unashamedly post here for likes

We don’t make money, we do it because it makes people feel good, & that makes us happy

Interesting fact: we have just over 13% of followers here than we do on another well known site, but the number of likes on average per post is broadly similar. Thank you 🤗🌳

Mother Nature is rolling out the red carpet in Rosemary’s garden this morning🤗
I’m seeing lots of photos of snow around England this morning. There’s no snow here, but the red carpet is out in my Devon garden.

The cold snap has put an end to short -lived splendour of the acer.

It doesn’t matter if we're talking #wallpaper, #paint color, or #landscapes - #backgrounds matter and elevate not just the mundane but the spectacular to even greater heights.
Logged into the #YewView cam in Worcestershire to see if our kingfisher had visited in the snow.
This male looks even more spectacular in these conditions!

Someone needs to do a Google Maps, but for the past. For example, typing in "London to York" but you can select a period e.g. 1450s, and it would give you the likeliest route. That'd be great.

Poplar propagation…
—and stamp it in very tight, it will take root and grow within four or five years into something that already begins to look like a tree. This is the time of year to do it: November when the leaves have dropped. #gardening

Top off your fall w/ the Kinks & this autumn classic/earworm:

“From the dew-soaked hedge creeps a crawly caterpillar
When the dawn begins to crack

Breeze blows leaves of a musty-coloured yellow
So I sweep them in my sack

Oh, my poor rheumatic back
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac…”

YES, YES, YES!
