I wanted a birding adventure game & there weren't any.
Nearly 4 years into building this now. FT job, a toddler & a baby make it a marathon. But day by day we're getting closer...

Feather Trail is on Steam & you can wishlist it: store.steampowered.com/app/2857180/...

some of the trail-building logic was really frustrating to work on so I let myself do waterfalls tonight as a little pixel art breather. slopes and water have long had hacky overlap so it felt like a no brainer

By placing trailheads and digging from there with your trusty shovel, you can enable fast-travel to your favorite remote bird habitats!

Building a somewhat complex computer game is a great way to torture yourself with accountability. Everything that breaks or doesn’t work is your fault. Your ideas were simple and leaky. You have to take the tempting, beautiful fruit of “ooh what if you could do X” and put it into a sausage grinder

Snowy Sheathbill, a Southern Ocean relative of shorebirds . They struck my curiosity when I took ornithology and became one of my most wanted species when I first visited the south. Not to elusive, I found some my first day but I still look forward to seeing them when I return. Falkland Islands 🪶

Attributed to a combination of climate change and disruption to the lemming cycle. A tragedy.
