'Compassion' rose.
Last rose standing, in the garden. Hard freeze expected in a couple days...
Farewell flowers.🌱💗😢

Every morning this little one is there, out back.
Used to be a whole bevy of doves years ago, mourning doves, collared doves, band-tailed pigeons. Now down to random sightings of a few flying in, plus this fella. Usually alone.
Is there an OkCupid for birds? 🤍🪶

My painting BICYCLE SHADOW.

This is a rare self portrait. I love to bike through all the seasons.

Dark-eyed junco snacking on some amaranth in the wild part of the garden. 🌱🪶
I used to grow Elephant head amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus), but stopped years ago.
They still come up each year, though...
The birds love them.

This year's peak bright yellows lasted about 5 minutes!
Windy, windy days followed by rains...
But oh so glorious while here. 💛🍂

Last of the tomatoes getting slow roasted in garlic. 🌱
Only the beginning of processing the pears. Anjou pears, just out of cold storage. This year I'm freezing them rather than canning, using a light honey syrup and hoping for the best.

so too does our healing; it happens in spirals.

Chrysanthemum 'Fine Feathers.' 🌱
Keep seeing fireworks, though!
A little bit of yellow in there... and they're still blooming in the November garden. Have grown to love mums so much. 💛🧡

This fella's head is at an odd angle, anyway...
I keep imagining the kids' song.

Sandhill Crane pair walking across frozen marsh.
In the valley it was all tulips & daffodils, in the high country, still winter. Showing close up & landscape shots. Mt McLoughlin, a volcano, visible on left.

While inland redwoods, Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) are the most massive trees on the planet, Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are the tallest!
Up to 380' (115m) or more.
Hard to fathom, even when standing right next to one.
