A snowy #Caturday

Mao wonders when it's gonna stop. She's not crazy about having to run through snow to catch mousies.

He caused it; he exploited it; it was foreseeable to him. Plainly put.
New: The House Judiciary Committee just released (on New Year’s Eve) the transcript of Jack Smith’s testimony. As I start to read the 250 page report, this Q+A in the image below jumps out: judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Not sure if this qualifies for #WindowsOnWednesday but it was my view a week ago from a 'window' behind some 16' organ pipes. Folks gathering for an old-fashioned Christmas Tableaux Service. The blue-and silver panel is a scrim behind which scenes of the nativity appear once lights are turned off.

Words of wisdom here regarding LLMs
ed3d.net Ed @ed3d.net · 6d
I've spent a couple of days working on this one, and it didn't end up quite where I expected it to. But I think this is the clearest way I can describe where my head's at, why I approach LLMs in the way that I do, and why, while it's describing-not-prescribing, it's a little light prescribing too.
The abstraction you didn't ask for

From May of this year, the glorious Cottonwood that stands guard over our house

I would nominate it for the Wisconsin Champion Trees list if it weren't for the fact that the program has been stalled by staff shortages at the Wisconsin DNR!

Sometimes opportunities just present themselves. Taken from the window next to my piano while practicing (during a pause in practicing, of course🤣). Window screens provide extra texture!

Such a range of blues in the winter. Even the barn has a bluish cast!

Still (well, always) thinking about #Moths, I saw the reference to #ForestFriday and thought, How about a moth in a forest?

This was some sort of Catacola (Underwing) moth I disturbed while traipsing through a local woods in July. He landed on the trunk, far too high for me to get a definitive ID.

Re: Donald Trump’s comments about Rob Reiner.

Rob Reiner was a compassionate human, a devotee of democracy, a necessary moral voice and a greatly gifted creative artist.

Donald Trump is a sick sociopath and a hateful person who dishonors the human race every time he opens his mouth.

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT
Sen. Jack Reed: "I must remind everyone that we follow the law of war, and because of that, we expect other countries. So that when our service members are in distress, they're not shot up in the water or if they're wounded, left to die. If we don't do it, then we can't expect other countries."

I am stunned every day by this cottonwood tree just outside my bedroom window, but the pastel pink and blue at sunset are especially striking. What an intricate system of growth.
