Forever grateful I was born a hater because I can't imagine anything more depressing than following rich people on social media because it's "aspirational."

Again I find myself angered by the fact that people seem to believe that all art is supposed to make you happy. Art isn’t meant to make you happy. It’s not for your happiness. It’s for your sadness, your anger, your fear, and yes, sometimes, a lot of the time, for your joy.

But not always.

The eternal struggle between wanting to write the most morally reprehensible characters imaginable and wanting to maintain your peace by not being forced to deal with accusations that you are endorsing or approving of the behaviour 😩

Sometimes I see an artist so good I consider chopping off my hands because clearly they are of no use to me as I never will be able to create something as beautiful.

AI-art has never triggered that response; it only fills me with spite.
The point of the AI project is to provoke despair in creative people. They haven’t produced profits or anything anyone wants, just a steady stream of articles about how us artistic types can’t do the thing we’re already doing, making art. Jokes on them, we’re even better at despair than they are.

QRP with your skull art (a lot of comic panels in my case)

The best part of social media has been learning just how miserable a lot of rich people are.
it’s genuinely reassuring to me that this is the most miserable and paranoid person in the entire world

I just heard a gaming youtuber complain that a game was announced a year in advance since "it's a pixel art game, it shouldn't take that long."

Game devs should be allowed at least one free manslaughter charge a year.

Damn you’re telling me the technology that was very obviously intended for unregulated speculation and criminal enterprises was used to do awful things

I will maintain that I don't have any special interests; I prefer to refer to them as emotional support subjects.

I was lamenting my parrots' feather-plucking as out of nowhere (with no obvious outside stressor or trigger) they will just self-destruct, no matter how much you love and care for them.

And I had the terrible realisation: Both Plato and Diogenes were right. I really am just a featherless biped.

I think the reason all these "empowering" rewrites of Jolene about how she CAN'T take the man end up so bad because they fail to understand that the reason the song is a timeless classic is 1.The desperation 2.The inherent homoeroticism of being completely heartbroken over how hot another woman is.

This would count as bad even if it was presented as a Civ cutscene and not an actual movie.
You don't have the be an avowed AI hater to be impressed without lifeless and unwatchable this is.

here is a foundational problem with AI art that AI cannot solve: anyone using it to make art cannot identify bad art. you learn how to recognize bad art (and improve as an artist) via MAKING art, which they have already fully rejected. the sets do not intersect.

Expectation: "Making comics will force me to draw things that I never would draw otherwise, like cars."

Reality: "Making comics will force me to draw things that I never would draw otherwise, like those handheld electric bone saws butchers' use."
