Chicago. Very unsure whether I really want to do this social media thing again but definitely not here for outrage.

After walking to the tenement museum; through the Kelvinbridge neighborhood, park and museum; and back, found the hotel's restaurant closed. Quick trip to Tesco for bubbles, whisky, chocolate and popcorn. Good trip, look forward to being home tomorrow. Miss our cats!

Anarchist 7th Circuit Court of Appeals:

"The spirited, sustained, and 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 of demonstrators in protest of the federal government's immigration policies and actions, without more, does not give rise to a danger of rebellion against the government's authority."

Just to hammer this home- there are no societal problems for tech to solve. We already solved then. We know how to do clean energy. We know how to cut emissions. We have the resources to feed and house everyone. We've shown UBI and univ. healthcare work.

We just need to care enough to DO all of it.
The greatest difference we could make to our future generations is not…any of the shit we hear people saying about tech.

It is learning how to care for each other enough to create and hold a real, lasting peace.

Ask people, especially ones you are afraid you will lose sooner than later, what are their favorite memories. Give them space to share the best things with the hope they won't be forgotten.

One year ago right now, we were on the train headed to New Orleans. We didn't make it to Jackson before my mother passed on, a few hours shy. Sometimes I have guilt at my lack of regret. Other times, I regret my lack of guilt. Human condition, second guessing, imperfect decisions.

I miss her.

There are probably laws that prevent this (that could change?) but holy moley, yes yes yes. Let the funds come from their pensions and I bet "bad apples" aren't tolerated nearly as much.
Unless and until the settlements in the civil suits resulting from these assaults start coming from law enforcement pension funds, nothing will change. We the taxpayers are funding this behavior. We need to make law enforcement pay for their own bad behavior.

I had no clue that we need ETAs (electronic travel authorizations) to enter the UK in two weeks until I read an article about what it took to play NFL games there this year. Just imagining showing up and being all "wut???". We have them now, they were easy to get.

You ever find yourself in a good mood during the fall of civilization and feel a little guilty about feeling good?

Is that the vestigial Catholicism talking again, or is that a universal experience?

Pay attention. Something dark might be coming.

The murder of Charlie Kirk could have united Americans to confront political violence. Instead, Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent.

1/ Here's what's happening.
Stephen Miller: "The last message that Charlie Kirk gave to me before he joined his creator in heaven was he said that we have to dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence. That was the last message that he sent me ... we are gonna do that."

I think we need to stop saying the system is broken and stress that it’s working exactly as intended. We need to replace it, not fix it.
The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion, after getting $1.2 trillion richer over the past year alone.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.

Can we stop to talk about how remarkable the timing was? Compliant at 1am, Judge engaged at 2am, ex parte call to the Government at 2:30am (they did not answer), TRO at 4am?

On a Sunday of a holiday weekend?!
