During the pandemic, when people's literal lives were at risk, they refused to shave to ensure respirators safely fit. But now, for "male-level" appearance, it is ordered.

Yep. Crime is actually down in DC. Perhaps some photos can be shown of these paralyzed by fright legislators enjoying the day/night out in DC with family, friends, and donors.
I walk back to my apt every night after votes. Other than Jan 6, I've never felt unsafe in DC. Then again, I don't hang out with Gaetz, Jordan, nor the convicted felon at 1600 Pennsylvania. But if that's your statistical sample I can see how you might erroneously extrapolate this way.
