This is wonderful news, and also means it’s time for me to beat the drum I always do when HPV vaccines make the news:

They are not only for women! HPV also causes penile, anal, and head and neck cancers. The latter are particularly deadly. Please vaccinate ALL your children.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

A key part of the backlash to ending the two child limit is the idea parents won’t actually spend the extra money on their kids. Why not give them vouchers for food and clothes instead? critics ask.

Because it’s paternalistic classism that believes being poor means you’re a bad parent.

OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.

Planning next garden phase: wildlife haven. Going to get a hedgehog house in the spring (bit late for this winter), and birdboxes, and feeding stations, and I've lots of wildflower seeds for spring planting too. Ooh and a bee house for solitary bees.

"So, knowing that sometimes when cats have a shit it triggers their vagus nerve, which makes them do zoomies, does this mean in Thundercats the only reason Cheetara ran so quickly was because she'd just had a dump?"

"No, Simon. I meant any questions about the job."

Cloudflare suffered a service outage on November 18, 2025. The outage was triggered by a bug in generation logic for a Bot Management feature file causing many Cloudflare services to be affected.

For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.

Woke up at 4am with the vaccination aches. Good body. Aching bones means you're making lots of lovely extra white blood cells especially for the virus strains I've been injected with. I have taken painkillers and had a snack and now I shall return to sleep.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

This is a great summary of what's going on in particular sections of the news media. It's obvious that the only real issue that the tabloid media has with Zack Polanski's mouth is that he uses it to say that we should lift up people who are struggling instead of the rich.

Been to get my COVID in and flu vaccinations with hubby 🥰 galling that we need to pay for this in the UK, but I'd rather have the protection it affords whilst I am able to pay for it.
