Gimme a short stack of comics, a platter of jazz, and a steaming cup of noir.
The incessant whine of drones at these Olympics makes it sound like Italy is under attack by angry mosquitoes, all wielding vuvuzelas and dental drills.

People who produce AI-generated books do not like, read, or understand books. They can’t recognize quality and assume nobody else can, either.
I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

Really enjoyed the Muppet Show revival. I love that they didn’t try to “reimagine” it, they just played it straight (which is to say, silly). More please!!!

THIS. I can’t understand why *every* elected Dem isn’t doing this.

In a purple district? Fine. Ask to inspect the local facility, and when they don’t let you in, make sure EVERY voter knows the feds don’t want them to see what’s happening in their own county.
Some people are asking what I want Schumer to do. He should be screaming over medical care and access to facilities. He should be going to detention facilities himself and putting his body on the line, as he did at the border in 2019. He should lean into stories about New Yorkers in detention. [1/4]

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

This is a proper comics pile. A mix of everything the medium has to offer. You got superheroes, manga, European comics, funny animals, serious stuff.

If your comics reading pile doesn't look like this, you gotta broaden your tastes.
One of my comic inspiration piles.
Still need to add Blacksad

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

For decades the Right has daydreamed about saving their country from monsters, they finally got the chance and it turns out they love the monsters. The monsters are even monstrous in the exact ways they fantasized about! You never have to listen to these guys about anything again

Arrested, convicted, and yet all those people just shrugged and said, "This guy's connected and knows how to party; I want in!" I just… don't get it.

Trump’s efforts to interfere in midterms becoming clearer & more dangerous every day:

-using ICE to terrorize blue states & cities

-seizing ballots in heavily Dem counties

-prosecuting 2020 enemies

-extorting states for sensitive voter data

Curious why ICE and CBP agents are so brutal? Here's a useful explainer I wrote last week, before Saturday's outrageous murder, about how uniquely unsuited ICE and CBP are for this moment—and why they were so corruptible into Trump's own fascist secret police: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-101-ho...
"ICE 101" — How Trump changed ICE and CBP into a fascist secret police
ICE and CBP are fatally flawed products of the post-9/11 War on Terror — now Trump has weaponized those very flaws to occupy America.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
