One thing I’ve learned that is that arguments in favor of something that does measurable harm to your community — using genAI, skipping vaccines, not wearing masks — are generally not reasoned or based in science or even deeply held beliefs. The actor simply does not want to *have to do something.*

An important aspect of the Fight-Don’t Fight divide is Fight doesn’t caveat it with “only if you’re sure you’ll win.” It’s not outcome-based. It says to stand on principle, because it’s right. Oppose bad things because they’re bad. Win some, lose some, can’t really know in advance, fight regardless.

The Twilight Zone cultivar is my favorite scented rose: It smells like a strong citrus/clove with classic rose mixed throughout. I bought four more bushes and will hopefully get them all planted during this holiday week! 🤞
