When the US took over Iraq , they expected their and UK oil companies to divide the spoils. It's the reason why they went in, to control oil prices.
Except the new govt of Iraq told them to get stuffed.
Have a feeling Venezuela is going to be the same. The companies will be kicked out over time.
Another Republican war for oil. I feel like we’ve done this before just a little while ago. bsky.app/profile/atru...

on this logic all the alleged rapists could be sacked without notice. So as to you know cut off their income based on “serious” allegations. Oddly nobody is proposing that employed rapists be punished without a guilty plea or guilty verdict.

I seriously don't know what's happening in the UK. They were leaders in acceptance of LGBTQ in their community. A lot of countries followed them. I know they were well ahead of Australia for decades.
And now ...
The UK is considering a policy that would effectively segregate trans people from society. It would bar trans people from "single sex spaces" even when they use the facility of their sex assigned at birth.

This is a full on policy of segregation without even the benefit of separate facilities.

Side note, this is what the GST is for. You know, the money that the Fed govt can't tell the states on what to spend on.
Because he can’t rein in spending on AUKUS

Putin is famous in allowing corruption within the Federal Assembly and armed forces. It allows him to control the individuals through threat of imprisonment. They will fight hard to keep him there if he's protecting them.
For thirty years I worked in the post-Soviet successor states in Central Asia and observed over and over again precisely the cycle that Bill Kristol describes. Corruption leads to authoritarianism, directly. The path is utterly predictable.

I would add to that, it's a social housing crisis. There's not enough houses for women struggling with finances and forces women to stay in toxic relationships to survive.
Here’s your annual reminder that the housing crisis is a women’s issue.

Most Australians work with or have family members who are not "white Australians". The older generation's English heritage is gone. Australia is multicultural and most Australians accept it as a benefit.
Whether people accept reality or not … Australian society has moved beyond the Howard era … it’s moved well beyond the Menzies era … you can’t turn back time … to paraphrase Tolkien … the time of white dominance is passing … and the beginning of equality for all is here…
