I received gender-affirming care from a Catholic medical organization in WA and they slowly detransitioned me over the course of 3 years before I woke up to what was happening. I already don't think these are safe places to seek care if you are trans.
Many people dismissed the announcement Catholic hospitals will ban gender-affirming care nationwide under the assumption that there will be other options. In reality, Catholic hospitals make up as much 46% of options in some states. This map is 2020, prior to Trump’s assault on safety net hospitals.

My Mom just visited. She's accepting of me outwardly but she just doesn't do the work.
I had to explain why it isn't safe for me to go to places like Texas/Florida because of the hateful laws in those places.
Her lack of curiosity really makes me feel like her acceptance is just lip service. 🫠

The house has passed a ban on coverage of gender care for all ages under Medicaid, CHIP and ACA plans. I don't know what to say to anyone this morning other than that the hundreds of thousands of people who are about to lose access to the care they need to stay alive deserve better than silence.

As a former child junior olympic-level runner, I have a few thoughts on the attacks on trans girls in sports. I ran for one of the most competitive teams in Southern California, and people who ran for my have gone on to become professional athletes. And these bans: they're fucking NONSENSE. 🧵
