Of all the #BirdButts in all the world, none brings me more joy than Yellow-rumped Warblers' bright sunny behinds. These birbs don't stick around, generally just passing through for a few weeks during migration season

This is the kind of shit that upsets me because those seniors are letting skills die, juniors aren't learning skills at all, and eventually we'll get to the point where we're deploying code nobody understands and nobody has vetted: techcrunch.com/2026/02/12/s...
Spotify says its best developers haven't written a line of code since December, thanks to AI | TechCrunch
Spotify credits Claude Code and its internal AI system Honk with speeding up development.

#Portrait of two very different birds:

- A handsome crow that didn't mind me getting close to drink in every little ruffle and detail

- A Green-winged Teal drake, his cinnamon-and-green head lightly kissed by the afternoon light

I regret to inform you that I have gone further down the terrible rabbit hole that is Elsie the Cow.

If you squint at enough eBay listings trying to read the words, you find a saga of a marriage gone mad.
This morning, I got distracted while eating cheese because I remembered that the laughing cow is named Elsie and is married to Elmer the cow on the glue labels. To doublecheck that I hadn’t hallucinated that, I looked it up and fell down a dark internet rabbit hole.

I saw a live birthed harbor seal pup for the first time in my life today. I thought it would be horrifying because I have a weak stomach, but it turned to UNGODLY CUTE very fast!

Using this thread for some moments in the minutes after. All shot on my z8, edited on phone for now. 🦭 🦑

Side note, but Trek's longeivity as a franchise makes it a great example of the Douglas Adams maxim about tech: anything invented before you were born is just part of how the world works, anything invented when you're young is novel and exciting, and anything invented when you're over 30 is heresy.

“Captain Mumbles” is a hell of a thing to call Holly Hunter, whose distinctive speech pattern is due to mumps taking her hearing on one side. The disrespect from someone who cares more about “decorum” than decency.

Dragonflies are very fast and agile indeed, but far from invincible. Case in point: these two male blue-eyed darners were likely distracted by a territorial fight when the heron decided to pick the winner

(I could've gone with a Steller's...to be clear 😂)

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
