When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

I said this before but Americans simply can not comprehend how much wealth there is. We constantly under project how much tax revenue we will raise from taxing the wealthy. The original estimate was $50 million.

I've run across a few physicists who are deeply engaged in the quest to understand reality, but who totally and completely disclaim the importance of consciousness or mind in their consideration. What is the thing trying to discover this nature? The "idea" of that nature only exists in the mind.

Surprised myself a little. The question of whether the Universe is itself conscious came up in a show, and I answered affirmatively (not too surprising), but then added, "In fact, I believe the entire Universe is conscious, both in total and fractionally."

This just made me think very briefly of a fantasy world where the lord god creates some kind of clever elves to live in his lands, and they just crack on math and science super hard immediately and hand back a note that's like, "Hi, so... light could be about 12% faster if you used this wave."
I mean, could you imagine analyzing the foundations of reality itself, and say.... finding a way for light to move that would save energy? What a strange existence that would be, a reality that was not by its own rules already fully optimal.
