By the way friends, my written works, novels, novellas, etc... I hereby release into the public domain. I only ask that whatever you make, you make with the intent of the betterment of humanity and good will toward life, the universe & everything, as I have tried to do.

Otherwise, have fun!

On that note, I've blown my meager monthly budget on shoes ($42 out of $48 income), and I could use a little help buying weed if you can spare it. I'm smoking much less since recent events, but it's still very useful for focusing on work. Just looking for $10-$20 so I can pick up an 8th.

Thank you!

I smoked a bit as a teen, and quite heavily in my early 20s when I was in fact most productive for the corporate world. Then I quit and didn't smoke for years. Didn't start back up again until after I'd been drinking way way too much, and it was my brother who got me a hookup, trying to help.
the scope of this kurzgesagt video is so narrowly focused on "more productive = better life" individualistic thinking that it really functioned less as a weed advisory and more an essay on why depressed people should feel more shame and regret

Lucky for me, I'm a deeply unserious individual. I get to live in a world full of space elves and magic, where a black hole might be lurking behind every corner (and could be friendlier than you think!). I get to live in a Universe made of light that loves me more than I could ever understand.

Back on my nutbar shit... I've had a song running through my head since this all began chanting "eleven eleven eleven" over and over. And one of my favorite albums is called 11:11. And I'm getting hit with ads for the new series of Stranger Things, about a girl with special powers called Eleven.

Hmmm... which reminds me. I meant to look into whether anyone had taken Ptolemy's astronomical observations and translated them into a heliocentric model. I'm sure someone has. I'm curious because he was a fastidious observer and his model was Not Wrong, so there should be pretty good data inside.

If you look at the Universe and don't see the mystery staring you in the face, then I genuinely question your search for truth.

I've never stared deeply into the Orb of Confusion, but if I did, this is what I imagine it would look like.

The paint series really has some gems in it, and even though the colors are not really bold, this is one of my favorites. I hope your Wednesday isn't too confusing.

One thing that's become startlingly clear is that many in the scientific community believe their job isn't communication, per se, but rather strictly controlling the flow of information to prevent the public from spinning its own theories.

Goodness, how very sad and trapped I'd feel if I was Sure I knew the shape and nature of the Universe, and I was just looking for that last particle that finally solves the puzzle. If I Knew in my heart of hearts that it's all just matter without spirit, and my existence is an accident.

I choose what I Believe.

I choose to Believe that there is intelligent life in the Universe, and if it should arrive, I might possibly find it.

They choose to Believe there is not, and so they will fail to find it even when it's in their face waving hello.

Very amused that when I opened my news app, it had a story summary that basically shook out like, "Radio signal detected from 3I/Atlas, so it's definitely not aliens, and boy is that Harvard astrophysicist embarrassed!"

Your enemies are counting on you to lose hope. Despair is one of their greatest weapons, for it leads you to stop fighting for yourself. Hold on to hope, no matter how hard it is, and refuse to join your enemy in bringing you down.

Much like magnets, no one really knows why the aurora borealis happens. Some say it’s because the gods are angry, some say the gods are joyful, still others say the gods got super high at their friend Kev’s house and then went to a laser show.

A big reason proc gen feels so different to AI in spite of superficial similarities is exactly this!!

Proc Gen systems reflect the interests and creative preferences of the tool makers, whereas AI is catch-all sludge that reflects no specific point of view. It’s not remotely the same!
In case anyone ever asks, I *have* written a material generator and a music generator for Eldritch 2, but that's not AI. That's me taking all the things I personally know about those things, and writing my own tools to make the process a little faster and easier for myself. It's still 100% me, baby.

If you put a mall directory in a high traffic crossroads of your home people will stop and stare at it long enough for you to find out what they came there for, usually just to murmur and echo so be cavernous

If you see me referring to "the pattern", I'm pretty much referring to TV Tropes. I've come to understand pop culture is in some respects our collective unconscious trying to predict the future, so I sit here looking at the present, trying to figure out which plot lines are in danger of paying out.

Every now and then I see a take about bsky that's like "The brands aren't here I dunno if this website has the juice" as though we don't all post "SILENCE BRAND" any time any of those dipshits say anything anyway.
