Glad to see people talking about Penn Jillette. The 2024 interview was done by me. I found him to be a refreshingly reflective, self-critical individual who has remained curious and willing to evolve.

This right here.

Thiel and co now have their tentacles deep within all aspects of the US government, from the well-known surveillance and weapons companies, through to lesser known general administrative stuff. There needs to be a systematic, surgical removal.
Here's an idea: Any Democrat who wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2028 must pledge to rip this cabal of anti-democracy tech fascists out of our government.

Anyone who won't make that pledge is for the billionaires, not the people. This must be a deal-breaking litmus test.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

Community members in Kenner, Louisiana, activate rapid-response teams to follow Greg Bovino and his Border Patrol goons through the neighborhood. They alert residents and warn them not to open their doors unless CBP has a court-ordered warrant.

I love these, and find them reverent. “What does the Lord require of you?” Is not “What does the Lord think would be nice if it’s not inconvenient?” I’m not a believer, but I can recognize living the good parts of a faith when I see them.
UPDATE: Another Chicago-area church has put up an immigration-themed Nativity scene.

A church member at Urban Village Church sent this one along, where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are gone and replaced with a sign that reads: “Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding.”

On Aug 24, 1869, Ohio Rep. John Bingham, principal framer of the 14th amendment, gave a remarkable speech on “Equal Rights-Impartial Suffrage,” in which he said of those who sought to reject the principal of birthright citizenship, “no greater political atrocity than this can possibly be committed.”
