There are other municipalities that are not happy with this (Kingston comes to mind). She should be leading a coalition of mayors and fighting back. Having even one major politician take a real stand could open up the gates for others to join in. There is zero reason for Chow not to fight this

I read this and think: Chow has to spend the political capital and fight Bill 212. It may be futile but not doing so will also have political costs. Just don't do it.
While she's made some questionable calls, I wish more politicians did what Hidalgo did: braving hatred by making pedestrian one of Paris major inner-city axes, transforming urban life for the better.
Finally saw the Paris transformation this summer, stunning. Along with Montreal, these two mayors smoked the anglosphere. I hope we see the likes of Hidalgo and Plante again, and often.
