Decided to try out The Divide: Enemies Within. As far as I know it's the first attempt to adapt Metroid's gameplay to 3D.
The way the game disempowers you at the start (you can't even jump without an upgrade) and the awkward aiming controls give it an (presumably) unintentional survival horror feel
