Shocking to think that the candidate who loves New York and New Yorkers beat the guy who doesn’t.

Oh New Year’s Day instagram ads are trying to blow my mind with green corrective pigments to cover redness.

Babies. My mom blended a green concealer & a skin tone concealer in the 1980s.

Also: the secret is color theory not special anti-inflammatory ingredients that are probably not skin-soluble.

I have been a fan of Behind the Bastards maybe since my husband introduced me to the It Could Happen Here series like 6 years ago?

But this year’s Christmas episodes about the people who ended the slave trade is fantastic. Start here:

"He stole people that worked for me," Trump initially said, when explaining why he kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago in 2003. It was unsettling and incredible on multiple levels. This reporting is much more unsettling, and much more credible
WSJ breaks significant news reporting that Mar-a-Lago’s spa *for years* regularly sent young staffers to Epstein’s home purportedly to give him massages, contorts its scoop to find a more flattering angle for Trump, and still gets an icy blast of a comment from Leavitt. www.wsj.com/us-news/trum...
Exclusive | The Incident That Prompted Trump to Ban Epstein From Mar-a-Lago’s Spa
Mar-a-Lago sent an 18-year-old spa worker on a house call to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. She complained to her bosses that Epstein pressured her for sex.

I think it’s maybe a year ago on @bobknorpp.bsky.social’s The Beancast that I said there was no way this wasn’t a part of the eventual business model.

And I’m not alone - iPullRank (an SEO firm I’ve collab’d with) is now emphasizing “relevance engineering” specifically for AI.
“This could look like a user asking how much ibuprofen to take for a headache receiving a promoted ad for Advil in the chatbot’s response. Meanwhile, actual results on correct dosage may be brushed to the side, or buried under a mountain of ad text…”

The problem here is this is a procedural definition of liberalism. If liberalism is no more than voting & passing bills in democratic bodies, many countries can be said to be doing liberalism that quite simply, are not. If you’d using liberalism to curtail liberty, you’re just not doing liberalism.
She helped pass a bill—which is 100% part of liberalism. Maybe you don’t like the bill. Maybe the bill will hurt some people and have bad outcomes. But that’s part of liberal democracy.

People aren‘t “standing for liberal democracy” just because they’re using the back door of liberal democratic institutions to push an illiberal political agenda now they can no longer just go through the front door.
And if you refuse to give someone credit for standing for liberal democracy just because they don’t agree with your policy preferences, you’re missing the big picture. www.thebulwark.com/p/why-marjor...

When you hear the way people like the PSA bros talk about Hollywood, it’s clear that to be “in the Dem coalition” is dependent on whether you are actually paid to be a Democrat. Hollywood may vote D, but they aren’t paid to be Ds, so they don’t have as much influence on strategy as you’d think.
Anyway, for all the media talent in the Dem coalition (most of Hollywood!), they're not as inventive when they have power as the Trump team is.

There's a risk of backfiring (Kristi Noem looking ridiculous) or scandal (the $$$ of doing this angering voters). But it hacks attention.
