Thrilled about our first DEMNORM paper and that it has been conditionally accepted at @thejop.bsky.social!
🚨📄 New paper (conditional accepted at @thejop.bsky.social):

We test whether social desirability bias actually distorts answers in online surveys.

Short version:
It mostly doesn’t.

German referee proposed to his boyfriend in the stadium.

He was then doxxed and beaten up at his home.

🧵 New version of our paper (@bcegerod.bsky.social) is finally online: "How Many is Enough? Sample Size in Staggered Difference-in-Differences Designs"
We show that even well-identified DiD studies are often underpowered; sample sizes needed are surprisingly large

I didn't expect that the first tweet ever - including my twitter life - which I needed to restrict access to is one about how fast AI can deliver a task.

Unexpected to say the least.

Given the reactions to this it seems necessary to state something quite obvious: Neither is this AI promotion nor is this a call for scientists to simple "use" whatever Claude coworker provides you with.

I wanted to know what Claude coworker is able to do. This is hours of work done in 2 minutes.
If you haven't done yet, please try Claude Coworker just to get an idea about its capabilities.

It took 2 minutes for it to read our paper, provide perfectly running R-code to justify a case selection across 14 countries using Vdem. Produced a 10 pager underlining our case selection.

Nice to see this shown empirically. I suppose many colleagues had this prior. Spot on.
Do ordinary Republicans and Democrats really avoid each other in everyday life? In a new working paper with Delia Baldassarri, we present descriptive and experimental evidence to challenge the view that partisanship drives the formation of social relationships.

Also: Keep it up!

This is Nathan Wolfe. Nathan is a virus hunter. Nathan has a bit of a reputation. Through the years, I've told multiple journalists stories I've heard, like "Nathan thanks Jeffrey Epstein in his book." Somehow no one ever wrote anything up. Want to see what Nathan was up to in today's Epstein files?
