From out of the depths of the blogosphere came a mighty whimper, a being of total incompetence. With his mighty powers of making it up as he goes along comes Fantasy Book Nerd. A being of less than average qualities who reads books and talks shite!

Gina reviews Jamie Genius Writes a Novel by Will Raywood today!
💙📚 A smart, over-the-top literary satire that skewers influencer culture and creative arrogance. Jamie Genius Writes a Novel by Will Raywood is funny, uncomfortable, and quietly instructive. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

New Music Monday over on The Queen’s Book Asylum
My pick this week for #MusicMonday is Let Me Be Myself by 3 Doors Down.

It should be Bjorn's turn, and this shouldn't be the song I picked this month, but given the sad news over the weekend, it felt like the right thing to do. RIP Brad Arnold.

A great feature article by Jim today over on GNOH discussing McKenzie Crook and the gentle folk Horror of Wurzel Gummidge and some long forgotten classic British TV - Children of the Stones lives rent free in my head!
Remember the accidental eeriness of 70s Rupert Bear? The pure, uncanny dread of Children of the Stones?

Mackenzie Crook is consciously, lovingly gentling that legacy. Our new article argues he's folk horror's modern gateway for kids.

Well! Today has been full of shit films! First it was The Visit by M. Night Shayamalan. It had some good ideas and would have been interesting if some ideas had been followed instead of others. Ultimately, it fell into clichéd shit. Then there was The Eye! I recall seeing the original and liking it

When you watch the cricket World Cup you always find some oddities. I never knew Italy & Germany had national cricket teams. And I always wonder how many Americans & Canadians know that they have a national cricket teams.
