Y'all should snap up this free (!) anthology of hopeful short stories. I'm proud to say that my piece, The Giant's Unquiet Bones, is included. Because sometimes you need a story about a girl marrying a dead giant's bones.
It’s New Year’s Eve, and 2025 has been A Year. I thought everyone might appreciate a cozy gift. Please get the Worlds of Possibility Volume 2 ebook for free, if you would like it! www.juliarios.com/a-gift-to-en...
A gift to end 2025 — Worlds of Possibility Volume 2!
This second volume collects short stories, flash fiction, and drabbles from the August 2023 to June 2025 issue run of Worlds of Possibility.

Y'all should read this brilliant mashup of Beowulf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

"Every Scylding in Heorot liked mead a lot,
But Grendel the beast, roaring outside did not.

Grendel hated Scyldings, the whole Danish clan.
Can I say why? I don’t think I can."

I love this story. As soon as you think about Necromancy as an MLM it seems self evident, as many of the best story ideas are.
Ahem

One of my short stories was published this year--a thread by the worst person in your high school. I am exceedingly proud of this. You can buy/read it here, in the fifth issue of Archive of the Odd, with a bunch of other amazing found fiction: archiveoftheodd.bigcartel.com/product/preo...

based on how often the naughty teens of major cities throw the rentable scooters directly into the river i've formed a theory that the many iron age swords and cauldrons found in lakes around europe that we've previously assumed were ceremonial and sacrificial in nature were in fact thrown by teens

And quake in frigid purgatorial fires
Of which the flame is roses, and the smoke is briars.

The dripping blood our only drink,
The bloody flesh our only food:
In spite of which we like to think
That we are sound, substantial flesh and blood –
Again, in spite of that, we call this Friday good.
Which lines of poetry live rent-free in your head?

Starforged is sooooo good, y'all! If you are a writer, I highly recommend the Oracles which I have used to help me brainstorm so many times.

(I asked the Oracle why you should buy Starforged and it said "persevere solution," so maybe it has the solution to the plot problem that's been vexing you.)

I make this black bean soup absolutely all the time. I like to soak the beans overnight, and then you just toss everything in the pot and simmer for forty-five minutes. Super easy, and quite cheap.
