Any 3D printer people out there want to test my latest design? After the latest Zack Friedman video, I thought I'd try my hand at a new style of filament clip. These hold tighter than anything else I've used, stay on the spool while printing, and they even look cute!

Kudos to @lastweektonight.com for covering felony murder, an incredibly racist law used to charge people for murder when cops kill someone using "look what you made me do!" abuser logic. Abolish it.

My dad turns 80 this week. Many memories were shared of our family ice cream (frozen custard) recipe that claims to go back over 100 years. But it changes every generation or so as people try to fix it because it usually turns out like frozen vanilla soup.

For posterity, here are some variations. 🧵

Hey @support.bsky.team It appears that new additions to block lists aren't propagating. I've tested with a few accounts and they get added to the list, but not blocked. Manually blocking, and removing and re-adding an existing entry works as expected.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Teen Vogue changed my life and their politics team was doing incredible journalism comparable to very little other publications. I can't say I'm not disappointed with this decision. Sending y'all love❤️
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This also does not bode well for the future of political reporting at @wired.com (also owned by Condé Nast). If it matters to any of them listening, I subscribed to the more expensive print edition this year _specifically_ to support the political reporting. You'd be useless to me without that.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

We've become known as the "3D printer house" for Halloween. Turns out even the parents ask for something to take home; we're all kids, no matter what the age!

Any other Makers out there replace or supplement their candy stash with fidgets? It also helps include kids with food allergies.

We don't talk about either of these concepts much anymore.
We really should start again.

Finally caught in the act!

This is why we have to keep some of our doors locked at all times. Three out of our four cats can open these doors, and two of them can open them from the other side, too. The fourth cat makes up for this by closing doors and getting locked in.

I need ideas. Some of these will ripen but most are far too green (and incredibly sour). Current plans are:

- pickles (I don't have a big canning pot anymore, so just fridge pickles)
- dehydrate and make green tomato powder

(these are small and not great for frying)

Those of you who know me from #3dPrinting know that I love honeycomb storage wall. Well, here's a new design that addresses one of its biggest shortcomings … inserts that actually stay in place so you can hold heavy items. Links to #Onshape CAD so you can add keyholes to your own designs, too.

Seattle No Kings from the monorail
October 18, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Over 50 people at my small town's No Kings protest today, which is an order of magnitude more than the usual weekly ones. At least half the cars driving by honked or waved, which seems like a good sign. My parents have been doing this kind of thing since the 60s … even got their dog into the spirit.
