The answer to "why not" is made pretty clear in the second episode.

She didn't create them. But she _did_ build a bunch of a proven open source design and worked with political leaders to ensure they knew about them so she and other kids could have access to cleaner indoor air.

My kid with sensory issues kept us out of theaters for almost a decade until COVID hit and we couldn't go for other reasons. It's been long enough now that we've just resigned to "when it hits streaming on a service we currently subscribe to."

At least the snacks are better at home.

That and the "my blood sugar is low; I need to eat something." that is almost always completely unrelated to actual blood sugar (probably the opposite … hello, glycogen!) and is really just you being hungry.

- Remove from heat to metal bowl and chill below room temp (an ice bath helps)
- Once chilled, add extracts or other flavorings
- Return to fridge and chill overnight

Churn and enjoy.

Sorry, no photo. The kids (even the 80yo ones) got to it too quickly.

- When dairy starts to barely bubble, use to temper the egg mixture: VERY slowly, add 2-3 cups of hot liquid to the sugar while whisking. Once incorporated, you can pour in the rest.
- Return to low heat and SLOWLY bring to 170°F to pasteurize and coagulate the proteins.

There were no instructions with my family recipe (they'd pour the hot cooked custard straight into the churn!) so we'll borrow from Mr Brown:

- Put dairy and salt on the stove on medium heat
- Whisk egg and sugar together until stretchy

Then came @altonbrown.bsky.social and Good Eats while my wife was also studying to be a pastry chef, and we fixed (ACTUALLY fixed) all of the ratios so it makes ice cream instead of soup:

½ tsp salt
9 cups half-half
3 cups cream
8 eggs
3⅓ cups sugar
4 tbsp vanilla
½ tsp salt

(makes about 8qt!)

Andersen Family Ice Cream

6 eggs, beaten well
2 cups sugar
1½-2 tbsp vanilla
½ tsp salt
5 pints half-half or 2 qts half-half + 1 cup cream

My mom changed this in the 1960s or 1970s:

2 qts whipping cream + 1 qt half-half
8 eggs
2½ cups sugar
4 tbsp vanilla
½ tsp salt

Not my kind of fantasy … I've apparently reached a limit for the ability to suspend my disbelief that the US government is competent.

Neither? I'm certainly "out of touch" with media/celebrity stuff but I'm more likely to say "film/show from the person who did " or elevator pitch the story/characters and maybe mention a starring actor. Definitely impacted by this, too: observer.com/2024/12/why-...
Why Hollywood No Longer Produces Superstars
Star power, or the ability of an actor to consistently draw audiences to a film or TV show, has waned and wobbled in the 21st century. What’s behind the decline?

Woah. I didn't see that she caught up so much. That's great.

Sounds like Rs just rejected it. Good. I know the Dems' spine is barely vestigial at this point but SOMEONE needs to acknowledge that Rs will never keep any promises made during any concession like this. They need to make Rs own all of this shutdown and the harm they are causing.

Definitely prefer the font on the UK version. Something about this font gives YA vibes.

Looking forward to this one once it hits audio (and then I'll even know how to pronounce the title!).

I can't remember the source, but it went something like "what, you didn't read the announcement posted behind the filing cabinet stored in the back room of the basement after opening the locked door past the stairs with the broken light switch?"

I was amazed at how many new ones were added since I last checked. They really need to make these part of onboarding … prompt during signup and prompt when new ones are added.

But I was also angered to learn how many totally ok things are being flagged (and thus hidden) as "rude."

I have my Quantum combined ONT+router set up in bridge mode running into my UDM Pro and it annoys their support (and their software) to no end that they can't ping it. That's their problem.

But your troubles make me think twice about going straight into my router's SFP+ with the fiber.

I enjoy looking at art … Uncanny valley AI-generated stuff makes my brain hurt, and that is _not_ the experience I want out of art.

(I also value the act of creation because I'm generally bad at painting/drawing it so I appreciate the effort/skill of those who are not)
