We've become known as the "3D printer house" for Halloween. Turns out even the parents ask for something to take home; we're all kids, no matter what the age!
Any other Makers out there replace or supplement their candy stash with fidgets? It also helps include kids with food allergies.

Finally caught in the act!
This is why we have to keep some of our doors locked at all times. Three out of our four cats can open these doors, and two of them can open them from the other side, too. The fourth cat makes up for this by closing doors and getting locked in.

I need ideas. Some of these will ripen but most are far too green (and incredibly sour). Current plans are:
- pickles (I don't have a big canning pot anymore, so just fridge pickles)
- dehydrate and make green tomato powder
(these are small and not great for frying)

Over 50 people at my small town's No Kings protest today, which is an order of magnitude more than the usual weekly ones. At least half the cars driving by honked or waved, which seems like a good sign. My parents have been doing this kind of thing since the 60s … even got their dog into the spirit.

Finished up the latest season of Futurama before my Hulu sub goes away this week. Ok but not as good as the previous 2 new seasons.
But WTF is up with the LAZY "diabetes and sugar" joke-that-isnt-a-joke? Diabetes isn't a joke, and spreading the "it's caused by sugar" myth is incredibly harmful. 😡🖕

Maybe take a cue from laying tile and design/print a little spacer key that can hold the panels in place and aligned, with a parametric gap between them. Could even design matching t-molding to fit into the gap the spacer sets up.

I suspect it looks pretty empty to her, though she seems to have lost her "most blocked account" podium placement.

Chat, is this bad?
This explains so much about problems with Dexcom, from how extra-bad they were last year (sooo many failed sensors) to why I seem to be second-guessing mine so much more than I ever did with the G6. hntrbrk.com/dexcom/

Yes, I've downgraded my fancy table saw to "lumber support" in favor of 100yo hand saw because I just don't have room for my miter saw to live anywhere other than … I think it's in my garden shed.
Anyway, MFT tables make a surprisingly good saw bench, plus no worries about noise ordinance.

They grow 10-15ft vines that like to climb. We keep trying to get them to only grow up (to plant more stuff below) but as you can see they just like to go everywhere. Just make sure to pick small … they can get fibrous/inedible (almost like a loufa) if you try to grow them to "winter squash" size.

One of my neighbors works as a grower at an exotic plant nursery and lit up when I mentioned that I like hoyas. He quickly ran off and then returned with this hoya occultata that he insisted I take home. Totally new-to-me kind of hoya flower.

Insulin and honeybees hand-poke tattoo session 2 of 3 has mostly healed up enough to have my wife snap some photos. Two more flowers (and one more bee?) to go, and a few touchups on the molecule.
Art and ink by @pokinghope.bsky.social (her books open again soon … I can't recommend her enough).

Challenge: Post your last photo taken in DC to show what a hellhole it is.
My most recent photo of DC is from 1999 (there were probably a couple more but fireworks are hard to catch on film and they apparently weren't worth scanning).

Diabetes tattoo #3 under way. Thanks to @pokinghope.bsky.social for the art and handpoke needlework, and @shessquee.bsky.social for the actually-correct insulin molecule. Headed back in a couple weeks to complete the honeycomb look with honey bees and wild roses.

Prusa XL seems smarter than just "heat up next to occupied tiles." By that rule, I'd expect this print extending slightly into the 3rd column of heated tiles to also heat up the 4th column. Kudus to @prusa3d.com for the smart logic, though I'd still LOVE so see a preview of power use in PrusaSlicer.

I honestly hadn't seen (or don't remember) the horizontal layout like this. All of the images I remember seeing as a kid were the vertical-stack layout: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-vo...

I've been eying the @linusmediagroup.com screwdriver for awhile and since I'm an 80s kid at heart I couldn't pass up the transparent goodies when they had their recent "lime day" sale.
Honestly, I'm most impressed with the micro screwdriver bits, and highly recommend the set.

Here's mine convalescing with a bunch of others out in the storage room I use for seeds and overwintering. My poor Christmas Cactus is now about 12 different plants after a cat crashed into it. So far they're happy under a pink grow light (and surprisingly not sunburnt … it's bright).

Prusa machines are supposed to be foolproof, and my first XL has basically been flawless for 2 years. This new one decided on its 7th print to just dig around in the print sheet instead of the usual gentle bed probe.
Prusa's recommended fix? Be psychic and cut the power before it happens again. 🤦♂️

It's after midnight, which means #caturday! These two buddies both had some major dental work (💸) and were stuck in cones-of-shame for a week. First thing they did after a big meal of solid food was make up for lost snuggle time.

My wife decided she wanted her own Prusa XL (for her business) which means … woodworking project for me! New shelf will hold the XL, and eventually an exhaust hood for resin/epoxy projects, the SL1S, and soon-to-arrive Eufy UV printer. And I got to use up some scrap wood.

My wife and I started putting her @prusa3d.com #PrusaXL together tonight. One of the first steps uses an ingenious torque tool, but we were struggling a lot. Hers became useless after 3 screws while mine looks basically new after 1.5 printers worth of screws. My OG part is Wera; new one is generic.
