Man…I’m just really freakin happy for Sam Darnold. We were in Arizona for his loss to the Rams last year—to go from that to this, and from castoff to the Super Bowl.

More from Lake Street last night where i'm told a couple ICE agents or ICE contractors were eating at an Indian grill when recognized and called for backup feeling uncomfortable. BORTAC, the Border Patrol high risk tactical unit showed up - walking around holding up canisters of tear gas in the air.

Again, I know it’s persnickety, but I want to emphasize that Alex Pretti was not “showing up at a protest,” he was driving around the city as part of a community-led first responder network. He was likely carrying a gun the same reason anyone does: he felt like he might encounter an unsafe situation
The party that has spent unlimited resources and energy getting states to pass laws to allow citizens to openly carry loaded weapons anywhere - now believes that exercising this right is permission for law enforcement to murder you.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

I do nominally agree with this but don’t think an attitude of grave self-seriousness about art is better. sometimes you should laugh in “serious” movies, not to distance yourself but because comedy and tragedy are not so separate things!
To the justifiable discourse about how the repertory cinema experience is degraded by the smirky laughter of filmgoers who don't know how to process their own discomfort, all I can add is that if you're in a theater with a group of college kids who have been ASSIGNED to see a movie, brace yourself.>

I think if you take it upon yourself to be a Voice of the Left or whatever, it should probably be incumbent on you to not respond to every headline with an air of self-important, contrived surprise (re: the Canadian PM thing, in this case)
