My garda neighbor told me rioters keep burning his vans so I asked how many vans he has and he said he just goes to the shelter and gets a new van afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding vans to rioters and then his daughter started crying.

Regardless of your stance on foxhunting and hare coursing, whoever is sending Humphreys out with that "They're rural pursuits, they have rules" stock answer is failing at their job, and so every journalist who doesn't follow it up with "why is cockfighting illegal then?" is failing at theirs.

Putting aside the thorny question of whether prison sentences have any rehabilitative effect (clearly the state doesn't believe this when it suits it) it's interesting Ray Burke, Ivory Callely, Ned O'Keeffe etc etc aren't mentioned in the brief list of examples of Oireachtas members who served time.

A failure to get necessary consents to a terror charge is not a slight error. They are safeguards when a person faces a serious charge.
