Strategic Tape Reserve

The Strategic Tape Reserve, based in the Penedès region of Catalonia, is a fully independent organization dedicated to the responsible dissemination of ferric cassette materials.
According to music theory, each sound in a piece of music invents their own conception of “the artist”, who compels all the sounds to conform to a certain ideal. But because each sound has their own perceived “artist”, powerful tensions arise between them and it’s these conflicts that are the music.

But this sounds suspiciously like a good idea, which is the exactly what we should be trying to avoid.

I thought the dullness had peeked with blockchain. Didn’t think they could top that for soul-draining tedium. But they spent a lot of money a bunch of people worked long hours and it seems like they pulled it off.

Aside from any other considerations, AI is probably the most incredibly boring thing that humans have ever invented, and for that reason alone it should disregarded.

Just lost power. Give my electricity back you damn wind!

Absolutely. And again, you probably want to keep those attributes balanced against each other.

A well-balanced society should contain a roughly equal amount of 808- and 909-based music. When there is an excess of music made with 909s, tensions and unpredictability will rise, while in periods of excessive 808 prevalence, that society will experience widespread complacency.

How do the CD labels get away with calling their plastic boxes “Jewel Cases”? There’s no jewels in there. It’s just a thin slice of aluminum. At least tapes can contain some exotic metals.

Basically, carrying out your bad ideas is a more moral approach to music making than working with good ideas.
February 11, 2026 at 5:05 PM
When you have a good idea in music, you don’t need to realize it. It’s already good and making it a real thing usually won’t make it better. It’s a waste of time. Bad ideas, on the other hand, should always be acted on, as there is a decent chance that in being realized, they will become more good.

Pretty sure some cyber criminal has been hacking into my phone and switching over to the discover tab.

When you listen to music, between 10%-35%of the sounds you hear are air vibrations caused by microscopic bugs that live in our ears. So when you hear a song and really enjoy it, it could just be that you are actually enjoying your ear bugs!

Just checking out the Ableten Live newsletter. Looks like they now let you use synthersizers, which is big news for producers working in electronic music.

Looking to make a career change from teacher/tape reserve intern to some kind of professional athlete. I’m in my 40s and not very good at any sport, but I have a great attitude, not a hot-head or a prima donna. So if anyone is looking for a pro athlete, lmk and I’ll shoot over my resume!

When trying to figure out what’s really going on in a confusing situation, it can be useful to think about who stands benefit from it, and the answer is usually ambient artists.

When a song’s lyrics are in a language I don’t understand, I just imagine the singer is singing nice things about me. This makes the music very enjoyable, regardless of the style.

Just something to be aware of: 99% of the time when a composer uses basic three-note chordal structures in their piece, this is a way of subtly signalling their membership in the criminal gang the Triads.
