Gen X. Rock, SciFi, Fantasy, Wood Working, DIY. May finally actually learn guitar.
Making the most of limited free time.
As I learned from making pizza dough, if it's not stretchy it means you didn't need it long enough. Pizza dough should be able to "window" when you stretch a piece and get a thin membrane you can see your fingers through.
Done the same making pretzels. Need to hold shape during the boiling step.
Well they taste fantastic but we couldn’t get them to stretch like we needed to shape them properly. Guessing I over kneaded the dough. So we have pretzel blobs 😂

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame should just rename itself to the Popular Music Hall of Fame at this point.

I know the reasons. The actual museum is a failing business. Doesn't draw enough visitors. They are fighting for cultural relevance and more visitors. Casting a wider bet for attention.

I'd call it The Replicator and it would make all the most famous recipes from popular chain restaurants that no longer exist.
You've just opened up a star trek-themed restaurant

what are you calling it?

"IDIC"

Just had one of those moments men wait their whole loves for.

Have a light up Christmas decoration that we haven't put up for years because we lost the plug for it.
Well, turns out an old IBM laptop plug that I was told to throw out years ago works PERFECTLY with the old fiberoptic winter village.

That's entirely to allow private military contractors to profit off this.

Don't let them forget that Trump:
Ended the asylum program to bring the Afghan translators to the US.
Set the withdrawal deadline before the election forcing the withdrawal under Biden.
The withdrawal left many translators and other Afghan support personnel stranded

Trump criticizes the program that brought Afghan refugees to the US who fought the Taliban
The man accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington is one of about 76,000 Afghans brought to the U.S. after the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan.

If they made a remake of this today, it would be from the perspective of Velda, the middle class, recently divorced mother who's become tough because she had to be. And a rich socialite with no wilderness skills becomes a major disruption to the program, threatening to undo her hard work.
Tonight's watch is one of my ultimate favorites 🍪

New low reached. Citizenship ceremonies canceled. So now even following the legal path is being further restricted.

Having a Mandela Effect Moment.

Does anyone remember an epilogue to Death Note where Ryuk goes back to the Shinigami realm and meets a new arrival that we slowly realize is Light who has no memory of being human?
Everything I look up says it doesn't exist and the creator says it doesn't exist.

Technically, that yeast has had more generations in your lifetime than your family has in all human history.
discovered today that the main mother yeast my mum uses for her breads is older than i am, which is stunning to think about. i have eaten older entities than myself. disconcerting way to start the day

The Fleming Estate rejected the idea that Bond was a code name.

Christopher Lee was the real James Bond. His exploits around WWII were Fleming's inspiration.

That said, there's no real reason a reboot couldn't make it a code name in honor of the original Bond.
You either state or heavily imply that James Bond is a name that goes with the 007 assignment, not a one-man identity. I thought that was what we were supposed to assume anyway?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I read Godot in highschool lit. Our teacher started the lesson by telling us most people don't like it, but for some reason prisoners love it.

I really should go back and read it with a new perspective.

Where's Waldo: The Movie

Starring Timothy Chalamagne
August 9, 2025 at 2:20 AM
Hello, I'm an engineer in a movie. It's a sci-fi film because that the only time anyone finds engineers in any way entertaining.
Hello, I'm an author in a film. I will be seen doing anything but writing a book, because typing is boring. Then I will have a 30-second montage of clicking away at a keyboard, I will hand a ream of paper to my editor who will declare it to be genius and a week later I will be atop the NYT list.
Hello, I'm an attorney in a film. I have a pure and perfect knowledge of every area of practice in every jurisdiction. Nevertheless, I will be corrected by a plucky law school grad who just passed the bar. After some stubborn resistance, I will silently nod and take her under my wing.

We celebrate the ideals this country was founded on. Ideals we have always fallen far short of. But it's the striving toward those ideals, the slow inevitable progress, that we have celebrated.

And in this dark hour, we need to renew a commitment to achieving those ideals.
What, exactly, are we celebrating tomorrow?

Our cutting off healthcare to the needy to enrich the greedy?

Our new concentration camps?

Our dying economy?

Our ditching due process?

Our corruption?

Our broken legislature?

Our corrupt SCOTUS?

Our ridiculous buffoon president? #FourthOfJuly

He's in a better place now.

He died?

No, he just went on vacation.
if you tell me someone’s “in a better place now,” I will assume you mean anywhere away from me (I have very low self esteem)

Woodworking day. Added some bench dogs to my "lightweight traveler's bench" designed by Rex Krueger.

Working with this bench, realized I need every inch I can get planing longer boards and needing to sit on the bench to add weight.

Just hammer from below to pop them up and hammer them down.

Maybe it's just me, but there really hasn't been a lot of sci-fi films in the last few years. And the quality of what we have gotten has varied wildly.

Is it because we're actually living in the scifi future we dreamed of in the 90's and it's so disappointing?
