I keep thinking about how Ghostty turned off issues to non-contributors and suggested everyone use discussions instead. Seems like a vouching/vetting process has to be designed
Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers.

If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of:

fund.godotengine.org
Godot's GitHub has increasingly many pull requests generated by LLMs and it's a MASSIVE time waster for reviewers – especially if people don't disclose it. Changes often make no sense, descriptions are extremely verbose, users don't understand their own changes… It's a total shitshow. #godotengine

call that job satisfaction?

i don't
Turns out Marvin is the truest expression of AI as we could have possibly made it.

Found out that AEW is on HBO and I am totally doing it.

Also, girl rasslers are so damn extra. It's amazing. The most intense throw-downs too.

I keep asking the question "how will adding another extra software system make the existing stuff go faster, or be cheaper, or require less infrastructure?" and no one will answer
"But I can generate a program with a phrase" doesn't itself reduce operational complexity. "Works on my machine" is a saying for a reason. Making local apps easily is great, but it doesn't shift the operational needle downward.

I'm going to make a pseudo math claim. (That's all anyone is doing right now, by the way.)

Let's call current work "X", and the amount of software required for X to resolve "Y". XY = current labor.

If we take another layer of software, itself an XY equation, and add it to Y, what do we get?
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

It's just funny to me to see so many business leaders parade around like they're cutting costs on engineering... while they bolt an entirely new dependency to an extremely expensive, ultra-tech, highly-coupled-to-engineering industry to their balance sheets.

understanding what cosmic horror is and seeing people misunderstand it in public is, itself, a form of cosmic horror

Spotify and these record labels own nothing of value at this level, and their damages aren’t even worth the legal expense they’ve already paid. They’re just licensees to people who actually do stuff. They should sit down
I dunno, man, if you sue someone for an amount that would make you the third largest country by annual GDP (www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-by-c...), you might start to give people the impression you're a bit of a racket and not really serious about the court system

When I say that we will be able to optimize and miniaturize, and localize models until they’re just another software component, this is the sort of thing that I take as validation of that hunch.

Bret Victor's "Inventing on Principle" is a talk where he shows some incredible feedback UI, but it isn't about feedback UI.

It's about how he felt so frustrated that computers could do a lot, and we weren't even trying. So, he spent time demonstrating his ideas. His principles drove him to invent.

And honestly no shade at Cocomelon. They knew what they were doing. Cook up a bunch of kid friendly animation to really popular kids songs. Done.

Shade’s firmly on NFLX.
This is because statistics are an awful way to decide what to make for kids, unless what you want to make is more Cocomelon
I can't believe Netflix has now had seemingly unfettered access to the Sesame Street brand for cross-promotional purposes for months and yet has only released FOUR new half-hour episodes some of which recycle content from previous seasons

I'm just going to put my thoughts out here on the "LLMs can Code and we're all doomed thing!" because although my reply is usually, "No it can't, and no we aren't," I should get into it more than that.

Here's my perspective:

I've been in SF for four days and on each day I've had multiple conversations where people (self included) express deep feelings, fear, wonder and worry about their skills being replaced or (this is less named explicitly but an assumed driver I think) no longer valued by others. Big threats to feel

This plagued me for so long until I realized I wasn't an idiot, and in lots of cases people (both actually good and not-very-good) were actually caking their work with jargon too, on purpose.
An unfortunate thing is that if you do a really bad job teaching, students will frequently assume that you’re clever and they didn’t understand it. Same thing for poorly written papers
