Today I finished transcribing something across into a post - the live module write I did a few months ago. Check out How To Write A Module here! idlecartulary.com/2025/11/19/h... #osr
How to Write a Module: An Incoherent Play-by-Play
A few months ago I decided to write a module live on Bluesky, from woe to go, to show my process and why I keep insisting it’s not hard. A few people asked me to immortalise it here, so I’m reprodu…

Ugh I don’t want to rake leaves. Like, both in terms of doing it and in terms of feeling like the leaf cover is better for the outside world in general

I wonder if the tech giants are aware that a lot of social network tech has just fully bottomed out in worth, and we’re back to human systems again there because we need proof. Like they just converted a huge amount of their own contribution to society into emptiness.

Let's see what notes I've written to myself this week.

"Godpunchers".

Oh, okay. Thanks for that one, brain.

As a young man I wanted to write songs about love and death and triumphs and failures.

As a grown adult nearing middle age I want to write about how much this stupid goddamn wooden spatula sucks; man, whose idea was this thing? Fuck this stupid spatula. Send back the damn spatula.

Get you a partner that loves you like agent models love flailing around and making huge irredeemable messes instead of reading even a little bit of the existing code.

The folks dunking on this are cracking me up. (I have so many hot takes about the "Avatar bad" thing that I.. p r o b a b l y shouldn't let myself act like posting goblin about it.)
Guillermo del Toro says he has seen all 3 ‘AVATAR’ films and calls them “masterpieces”

“I know where it’s going and I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people… I can say there are very few Americans that have created an entire mythology”

Nonzero chance I will grab Nomad for my tablet this week or next, and attempt to sculpt one of my doodles.

This list is objectively correct, though I'd probably try to fit Phantasy Star 3 in there honestly. That single game was worth buying the Genesis for.

Douglas Adams knew we'd wind up cursing at the robots almost immediately, while weirdo corporations foisted them on us. No individual ever wants to buy one the whole series, just executive boards. Marvin probably really had all of that dismissal and snark coming to him, now that I look back on it.

Thank you everyone who's contributed! We're now over 50% to our monthly funding goal, which will allow us to be a pretty reliably sustainable volunteer-run organization that is still able to spend money on e.g. legal, hardware, hosting, etc, costs as we need in order to fulfill our mission!

Catching smug stray comments from LinkedIn under Bret Victor's "Inventing From Principle" and trying so hard not to reply.

I don't know why I keep responding to messages in there, every time it's on a backdrop of pure rage bait.

This is because LLM chat bots are an interface, and chat is a terrible way to interact with a tool. IMO. There’s more to it but that’s the central intractable fact that won’t be answered by any further exploration of the technology as is.
I talk to many professional #UX designers and no one is using genAI in any MEANINGFUL way to revolutionize their design work.

Sure, everyone is playing with it, and it can do some cool parlor tricks, but there isn't anything significant happening in design.

This needs to be said louder.
