I think all the “crash early and often” advice I’ve heard was from OTP/Beam folks, honestly, and for them it’s true and kind of easy to do in a low risk way - so maybe part of the assumption behind that phrase gets lost in translation, honestly!

Unwrap always felt like pragmatism. In a good way! "How do I just get the thing out of the monad to see it? Well if it's safe, you can, but if not it should panic."

Is it even possible to have a compromise and NOT have a compromise at the same time, without relying on individual discipline / ethos?

Now you're talkin'

loads of infrastructure work and economic boosts the minute we start doing buildouts too. the morons.
November 19, 2025 at 2:55 PM
just talked to a friend about that lol. i guess i thought that was something most people already did
November 19, 2025 at 2:40 PM
I did too, and I tried it this morning. It is a'ight. But, it has the same problems as the rest, and is still just a chatbot loop, so...

Didn't it go to Pam Bondi? Who is kind of in trouble because of how badly she handled Epstein in the past? 'Cause I think she'll definitely alter/redact a bunch of it out of self-preservation, too.

lol well said, absolutely the same here!

Me in a nutshell. I’m also the drop off / pick up parent. It’s fine! But it’s time and bandwidth consuming, that’s all

With every model, the code seems really - idk, mid? That feels like a value judgment but I don't know a better way to say it.

I almost always step back and just use what it made as reference, in the end. It doesn't feel "faster" but it does feel like I sped some parts of the spiking process up?

wild!

i've seen a lot of mullets and, worse, mullet bang faux hawk bowl cuts the last year or two. but like, all online / streams. feels like people are trying to make it happen
November 14, 2025 at 9:53 PM
oh ok the bus didn't do the mullet, i was about to ask haha

100%

I’d even say some stuff, like schools, no private option allowed! If you look at countries where they did that, suddenly the public option got really nice because the rich folks had to insist on better conditions for THEIR kids.

For real! It’s past time to just rally up a bunch of librarians and just empower the hell out of them imo

My thesis is that people love ads, actually, but we hate this forced stuff. I think it’s like Steam, the problem with ads is that they’re making them tedious as hell. We love coupons, sales, brochures, trailers, etc. Super Bowl ads are huge usually (kinda duds lately though)

But it’s everywhere, not just hiring. Everywhere you can cram slop, the wheels are already in motion to provide a social proof alternative that is just less hassle. And none of the doofuses at the c level in the big tech orgs seem to understand they just ate their own seed corn.
November 14, 2025 at 12:30 PM
Like hiring software? Totally bottomed out in terms of how we need to use it. We’re already back to human connections and direct communication for resumes and hiring. The digital channels are suddenly more work, and kind of futile.
November 14, 2025 at 12:30 PM
This exactly. I was trying to explain it to someone recently - this wave of "rant guy with website gets popular" -> "'news' website makes money maybe?" -> "total meltdown heel turn" has happened like 3-4 times since the early 90s just in communities I've been a part of.

😂 I'm actually having a tough time coming up with memorable recent scary movies that don't have kid harm, tbh!

I don't know if it's just actually that pervasive or if I need to rethink who I get scary movie recs from
