Unpopular opinion: Capitalism is not the problem. No economic or political system can endure the relentless force of human nature.
Our selfishness, opportunism and short-term thinking inevitably warp any structure to serve our immediate desires. The flaw lies not in the system, but within ourselves.

The river does not resist its course; it flows, cutting through stone and carrying storms, yet never losing itself.

So too must the soul, grounded in virtue and guided by Divine wisdom, yield to what it cannot command while standing firm, steadfast and ready for whatever the current brings.

We were promised a dawn after the long night, but the same vultures returned, cloaked in new flags and false smiles. They spoke of freedom with blood still dripping from their hands, of democracy while counting stolen votes in the shadows. (1/2)

Absolutely right. This is why we constantly say that if you love a book/author please please please tell people about it.
I’ve said this before, a lot, but when you’re an author and your book doesn’t sell your feelings can default to the premise, “Everyone in the world was offered my book and they all personally rejected it.” The truth is most people don’t know it exists. Awareness is the problem, not you or your book.

How to overcome adversity (According to Marcus Aurelius)

1. Use it to do good for others
2. Be ruthlessly objective
3. View everything as an opportunity
4. Cultivate an inner citadel
5. Take it action by action
6. Prepare for the worst
7. Focus exclusively on what is in your power

5 short rules for a better life:

1. Focus on what’s in your control (Epictetus)
2. Be free of passion, full of love (Marcus Aurelius)
3. Strength is the ability to remain calm in any situation (Marcus Aurelius)
4. If you need help, ask (Marcus Aurelius)
5. Take wandering walks (Seneca)

Stone and Moss

Stone stands still,
Unmoved by will,
Moss climbs high,
Where shadows lie.

Neither fights,
Nor seeks delights,
Each keeps its role;
In strength, in calm, in soul.

Storms roar,
Empires fall,
Here in stay,
Nature shows the steadfast way,
Yielding firm through all. #Poetry #Nature

Lol. Ahead of you there. The only thing that dwarfs my selection of Stoic / Philosophy texts is my collection of fountain and dip pens. Mind you I prefer modern vacuum-filled fountain pens for ease of use and ink conservation. Dip pens get annoying for anything longer than an A4 page of writing.

@sbwrightpoet.bsky.social, it’s time you led a renaissance: the noble revival of quill pens and wax seals.

Let the artistry of ink and parchment return, when words bled with meaning and letters were opened by candlelight, not by click.

Do this, and history will immortalize your name in cursive.

Writing was meant to flow from the hand, tracing the measured rhythm of pen on paper.

In that motion, words find their weight: they sing, they breathe, they come alive.

The digital word, by contrast, feels hollow; yet it’s the one we now live by.

True! Stoicism emphasizes virtue over outcomes, but that doesn't mean optimism is incompatible with it.

The Stoic's trust in reason, nature and human resilience can generate optimism rather than depend on it.

It's less about hope for improvement and more about confidence in one's capacity to act.
This passage has the spirit of courage, but its outlook is more existentialist than Stoic. The Stoics didn’t believe in optimism as “fuel,” because optimism depends on hoping things will improve. They aimed instead to act rightly whatever the outcome.
Optimism is not a false doctrine, it is fuel.

Life's absurdity does not break the optimist, it dares them to carve meaning from the void.

Hope is not naïve; it is resistance, defiance, a rebellion against chaos itself. #Stoic #Life @msbsongs.bsky.social #LifeLessons #Stoicism

People often forget that most audience reviews tend to be extreme; either 0 or 10, with maybe 30% landing somewhere in between.

As a result, genuinely good movies get inflated scores, while "just okay" or moderately good films end up rated far lower than they deserve! #HIMMovie

All is transient. Glory, humility, triumph, toil, etc... all dissolve into the universe.

Stillness comes not from status or wealth, but from moving in harmony with life’s natural flow.

Breathe. Release comparison. Walk gently; the universe treats all things with equal, impartial grace. #Philosophy
