We found a tape containing UNIX V4 - long believed lost - in storage at the University of Utah. Yesterday, the Computer History Museum read it! There's a raw copy of the tape up at archive.org/details/utah... , a .tar at squoze.net/UNIX/v4/ , and much more at discuss.systems/@ricci/11550...

There has been outrage as the @acm.org rolls out AI generated summaries of papers. This is doing AI exactly wrong by replacing valuable, peer-reviewed content with a possibly inaccurate summary. It's still not too late to correct it though and use AI responsibly... anil.recoil.org/notes/acm-ai...

CloudLab 2025 Year in Review:

This year, CloudLab users collectively ran 124,025 experiments using 14.3 million node-hours.

The busiest cluster on CloudLab was Utah, which accounted for 5M node-hours. Wisconsin accounted for 3.7M node-hours, and Clemson 2.6M node-hours.

Deadnaming a former Assistant Secretary of HHS and selfless public servant on her official portrait is an act of cruelty and a clear violation of basic dignity.

Admiral Levine served this country honorably. Targeting her, and all trans Americans, is bigoted, cruel, and completely unacceptable.
