Ran all the streets of SLC in 2020 + some suburbs in 2021 & 2022. I post random photos around Salt Lake and write occasionally for City Weekly.
I just can’t get over how it happened — it really happened!

A tiny blue dot in a sea of red out west!

Median Salt Lake voter from the newly created Congressional District 1.
There is no reason to even consider Ben McAdams for this new Utah congressional seat. The only acceptable person for this seat is a reincarnated Marx, but somehow more left. That’s the appetite of the electorate for this seat

Hopefully relegated to the dustbin of history…
Posting to celebrate the recent news:

Throwback to that time four years ago when I ran through all 4 of Utah’s Congressional Districts in under 30 minutes.

Back from a quick trip to Tampa, Florida; I took four photos in total.

Lol — the convention is going to be wild.
The last Salt Lake county democratic central committee meeting featured two guest speakers telling us to calm the fuck down and stop being so angry

This is a hilarious exchange for a lot of reasons but mostly because Todd Weiler was the chair of Senate Judiciary Committee that pushed a favorable recommendation for the Utah Judge who ruled on redistricting case.

(She passed the Senate, unanimously, too by the way)

Tired: Ben McAdams isn’t progressive enough to win in the newly drawn D-1

Wired: Nate Blouin isn’t progressive enough to win in the newly drawn D-1

I don’t know how many people realize how militant SLC Dems have gotten after repeatedly being beaten down by the state legislature year after year...

Hi, I am Bryant — today I changed my voter registration from Republican to Democrat.

The Utah Republican Party left me*

(*) I can now vote for a Dem candidate that matters in my freshly drawn D-1 Utah congressional district.

Lol — love how South Jordan is not included.

From Drew Savicki — calculated presidential election results in the newly mapped D1.

This district is blue, blue.

A funny unintended consequence of these maps is we will (hopefully — presuming he doesn’t bow out) get to see Burgess Owens run in a competitive GOP primary 😂
Breaking: Judge Gibson rejects the Legislature’s congressional boundaries. Chooses the plaintiffs Map 1. A solid northern SLCO district that strongly favors a Democrat.

I thought they liked rural-urban blends in creating their districts (something that naturally increases congressional district sizes)…

At the risk of posting something imminently outdated, I’m surprised the Utah redistricting ruling by Judge Gibson hasn’t happened yet. It’s well into the evening here on the date by which the maps must be determined in order for them to be used for next year’s election.

Can we talk about how weird the Airport Radisson Hotel is in Salt Lake City?

Bruh — what is going on with the Salt Lake Council…?!
Things are definitely getting tense within the Salt Lake County Council, as it voted along party lines to close the 10th East Senior Center in Salt Lake City.

A news release from the Council's senior policy advisor today:
November 6, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Laurie Stringham is one of the Salt Lake County Council members who voted to *close* daycares for needy parents this past week (!)

www.ksl.com/article/5139...

Reminder that she barely skated by winning her at-large election back in 2020; with changing demographics, hard to see her winning in 2026…
