I played through HORSES last night (via Epic, lol). Is it messed up? Absolutely. It’s a very adult game, both in its themes and experiences.

Every time I’ve hit “Search the store” on Steam today, it autofills with trending games, the top one being Slut Squad.

Where does Steam draw the line?
Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

I take Wikipedia for granted. Reading this Jimmy Wales interview reminded me in our Fantasyland age what a remarkable and important creation it is. True pillar of civilization. Runs on only $200 million a year. Requires our support. So I’m finally donating. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/18/m...

The Tories are named for an Irish word, 'Toraidhe'/'Tóraí' meaning highwayman, or robber.
So we could help you out again by renaming UK Labour the "Sleeveens" from 'Slíbhín', meaning conman, honourless person or habitual liar.

I'm starting to feel kind of grumpy about how some indie and AA games copy so many of the practices that harm AAA. Like, dopamine loops and such can be compelling in a good way, but when we're implementing fomo shops, daily grinds, etc just like big companies... idk it feels wrong to me.

I think this is my favourite Morrowind art I made this year. I like how everyone I talk to has a slightly different opinion on Vivec’s character :)

these past few days I've been thinking a lot about what makes the world of hollow knight work so well, and I think it's because it's got an enormous amount of *character*

it's very, flavorful, created with a clear direction in mind, and executed so holistically across art/vfx/design/sfx/VO/music

Currently watching the 1967 movie Playtime for the first time and it’s incredibly captivating even with how still and slow it is. You environment artists need to study it. Nearly all grey saving colour for accent points but showing surface finish can be what you need to sell an interesting space.

i know you’re not supposed to read the conversation in the comments but the conversation is depressing and anti-art in all the typical ways to justify censorship… like there’s so much to unpack here especially with how quickly people paint art as “abuse” when it discusses difficult topics.

I love this book am required by law* to mention "Teaching to Transgress" by bell hooks.

She was very much influenced by Freire and "Teaching to Transgress" reiterates the ideas in Black American context, addresses gaps, and goes beyond.

Excellent if read together.

*law written by me
“Never in history has violence been initiated by the oppressed. How could they be the initiators, if they themselves are the result of violence? How could they be the sponsors of something whose objective inauguration called forth their existence as oppressed?”

ok but for real if you want to make a really good indie (or AA) games the number one way is "be financially comfortable via other means"

blue prince guy owned a popular website generating income, toby fox was a successful musician...

frankly if we had a UBI youd get SO MANY GOOD GAMES
