This is so gorgeous! One of my very favourite places on the island
Have a #painting. "Burren Tree" is from 6 years ago. I painted it because I love stones, let alone fields of stone. And I really like walls. You know where you stand with a wall. Sometimes the dry stone ones fall down a little, but if that gives you a better view of a tree, great. #art #SpeirGhorm

A #painting for a brief distraction. "Dublin, Purple and Orange" I painted because Dublin is home, and what can one say about one's home? I can actually talk a lot, so could wax purple about it all day, but in this instance I decided to simply give you my Dublin - painted in purple. #art #SpeirGhorm

Marina Purkiss handing Andrea Jenkyns her backside. She is one of the few people in the British media who will call out EVERYTHING direct at source.

She's not trying to be everyone's mate and she doesn't give a F*CK what you think.

I'd go even further than Marina tbh, but this is great.

Sign! For ECIs to be considered by the European Commission, each country must meet its threshold, for Ireland that's 10,080. We are currently at just under 6,000, approx 58%, so we need a big push! Belgium, Finland, France and Spain are there, let's get there too!

This fairly brightens up these dank January days
A Dublin #painting from way back. "Seven Buildings, Four Stories" was painted out of a love of buildings, the shapes they throw at you, and how they talk to a street. #art #SpeirGhorm

Last May was bookish bliss… so I'm doing it again! (Am I mad? Possibly 🙈) Plans are brewing, authors incoming & green t-shirts at the ready. Watch this space for confirmed guests over the next week or so and, most importantly, save 4th–10th May!

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence.

“Let me go”
Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence.

‘They take pictures, shouting Look, the janitor! while I duck and dive from the action shot, the wild beast going about her business in her natural habitat.’

‘Bowie’s name, figuratively speaking, was once again over the door.’

Did you see #winterwatch last night?

Belfast's starling murmuration took centre stage to the delight of audiences across the UK and those watching at Belfast itself.

But did you know we nearly lost it..?

In December, in the height of the Christmas madness, me and my partner painted and drew this pretty massive mural in the Anchor Bar in Newcastle Co Down.
It is a really nice piece full of details about the town and the Mourne Mountains and the sea and forest.
There is also some booze advertising.

A #painting from a couple of years ago of the southwest of Ireland. "Sneem II" was started twenty years earlier and worked on every year until I was finally happy that I'd captured my first experience of the County Kerry town. Which was a great one by the way. #art #SpeirGhorm

A Dublin #painting from a ways back. "Liffey, Six Landmarks" came out of a time where I would casually cycle into town and stand on bridges for ages looking down the river. Time, it can be precious. #SpeirGhorm #art

I love these paintings!
An Irish #painting to have a goo at. "Carrick-on-Shannon" came out of a cycle to the County Leitrim town where I started the day in Boyle and finished it in County Longford. I painted it because I like road markings - and days with green skies. #art #SpeirGhorm #ArtAdventCalendar
