Have a #painting. "Burren Tree" is from 6 years ago. I painted it because I love stones, let alone fields of stone. And I really like walls. You know where you stand with a wall. Sometimes the dry stone ones fall down a little, but if that gives you a better view of a tree, great. #art #SpeirGhorm
Landscape format in acrylics on mat board. Foreground is limestone karst in very pale shades of lilac and blue-grey, then long rough yellow-green grass before a dry stone wall running horizontally which dips in the middle showing full narrow white trunk of small tree leaning to the right and topped with a clump of scant green foliage with touches of red. Stones in walls are rendered in pale blue with dark blue shadows and crevices. They show a long narrow side facing viewer and mostly upright or tilted. Behind the tree are wide areas of flat lilac-grey karst, likes fields of stone, with dry stone walls running across and some dark green bushes until along the horizon a strip of low blue-green hills with some darker trees and hedgerows smudged in. A #painting for a brief distraction. "Dublin, Purple and Orange" I painted because Dublin is home, and what can one say about one's home? I can actually talk a lot, so could wax purple about it all day, but in this instance I decided to simply give you my Dublin - painted in purple. #art #SpeirGhorm

A Dublin #painting from way back. "Seven Buildings, Four Stories" was painted out of a love of buildings, the shapes they throw at you, and how they talk to a street. #art #SpeirGhorm
Landscape format in textured and very loose acrylics on canvas panel. Narrow buildings of different heights joined together in a terrace. Shops at street level. Upper stories from left to right are coloured pink, white, teal, orange, pink, blue, and red. Lots of loose thick black lines are used for outlines and details. All have some architectural details like corner stones, arches or panels. Most windows are yellow. Four buildings have straight flat tops; two have elaborate ornamental pointed features, and the orange one in the centre has points of pediments above each of 3 windows. In December, in the height of the Christmas madness, me and my partner painted and drew this pretty massive mural in the Anchor Bar in Newcastle Co Down.
It is a really nice piece full of details about the town and the Mourne Mountains and the sea and forest.
There is also some booze advertising.

A #painting from a couple of years ago of the southwest of Ireland. "Sneem II" was started twenty years earlier and worked on every year until I was finally happy that I'd captured my first experience of the County Kerry town. Which was a great one by the way. #art #SpeirGhorm

An Irish #painting to have a goo at. "Carrick-on-Shannon" came out of a cycle to the County Leitrim town where I started the day in Boyle and finished it in County Longford. I painted it because I like road markings - and days with green skies. #art #SpeirGhorm #ArtAdventCalendar
Landscape format, loosely painted on canvas. Flat white roundabout junction. Street from left bends into street straight ahead and as it goes into the right half of the painting it bends further left back behind itself. Buildings are 2 and 3 stories, joined together, with shop fronts at street level. They are mostly light blue or white, with one red halfway up the left side, and one yellow at the far end of the right side. Corner bricks of contrasting colours feature on several buildings. Roofs are various blues from mid to very dark. Beginning of the word coffee, is over the window on the gable end of the white corner building at the near end of the right side.
