From inside the DoD:

“Schumer's bungling over the past two months & creation of this lose-lose scenario is a complete dereliction of his duties.
This was the sole moment where they had any real potential leverage to stand up and fight for the Constitution & they completely blew it from day 1.”
Text from a fed employee:

“We are truly alone.”
"I don’t get paid if there’s a shutdown but shutting the government down and putting up a fight is preferable to giving in."

"Every single one of my colleagues supports a shutdow."

"Everyone I know in my office was hoping the Dems would grow a spine and shut the government down."

Men are shifting right because Republicans are making their lives worse and telling them to blame women and immigrants.

Democrats should be pointing out this *extremely obvious* dynamic, not trying to peddle a lighter version of the same narrative.

Start paying attention. Don't ask voters what to do. Figure out what democrats stand for and stand for it. Tell the voters what you believe in and explain why you're right.

This isn't complicated!

"what could the democrats do?"

1. Talking filibuster of every single trump nominee
2. file articles of impeachment every day
3. hold a press conference every morning detailing the crimes the trump regime committed the previous day

ooops! it turns out if you didn't spend the last 6 weeks vehemently making the case against DOGE, you are rhetorically and politically in a tougher position to actually draw a legislative line in the sand about it in regards to funding the government. man if only anyone had thought even 1 step ahead

I'm not watching #SOTU, but a friend mentioned "dem placards" in the group thread which I assume means they taped the Kick Me signs in front.

My qualified defense, and a qualified critique, of Jeffries and Schumer basically boils down to the fact that they are acting as legislative leaders (their putative jobs) rather than political leaders (what many Democrats, and others, want from them right now). A quick thread
I think there is a lot of conflation going on between Jeffries and Schumer on one hand and “Democrats” and “the party” on the other

This is so out of touch you kinda have to laugh. "Move away from the dominance of small dollar donors"? Yeah, small dollar donors are the problem. Harris started on a rocket ship of small dollar enthusiasm. Her campaign fell apart when she started listening to these clowns

and losing it for coming on 20 years on immigration
the thing about “democrats should take popular cultural positions” is that what constitutes popular is a function of an interaction between the public and elites. if a faction of elites start screaming about a vulnerable minority and another faction says they have a point, this shapes the public.
In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular."

"You can go right to heck. I don’t think I will lose re-election based on you screaming at me"

How brain dead do you have to be to look at the last 30 years of politics in the US and elsewhere and conclude that what voters really want are politicians who at their core believe in nothing and consider everything - including you, personally - negotiable in the quest to win The Center.
As a cishet dude, when I see a Dem ditch trans rights, it sends a message: you ain't got no fight in you, no principles, just another empty suit.

Think I'm some too-online outlier? Go ask your expensive consultants why people don't bother to vote. It's because they know you're all empty suits.
This is basically the attitude of democrats up and down the ticket and it’s pathetic and unamerican

Gavin Newsom was all but exiled by his entire party after 2004 because he held a mass gay wedding ceremony on the steps of SF City Hall--"too much, too soon" said Dianne Feinstein. That same year, voters in seven states banned same-sex marriage by referenda and California joined them in 2008
