Question: why does the #Pittsburgh #snow #response dashboard indicate that far fewer plowed streets in total than it did last night? When the "ALL" option is selected, is it only indicating streets plowed on the current calendar day? Seems like it.

The People Struggle Against Tyranny
Another execution of an American citizen. A regime that has no strategy but to lash out. The struggle against Trumpist authoritarianism is only going to get bloodier.

Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

“Help! I’m afraid that if I oppose ICE, I’ll be branded as anti-law enforcement!”

That isn’t a problem, bucko. That isn’t a real thing. ICE is not law enforcement. Illegal immigration is a misdemeanor. You’re the equivalent of having a death squad enforce parking rules.

The incoming snow reminds me of the huge 2008 New England ice storm. Everything shut down for a week. Dozens of electrical line pros from Canada arrived to help us.

Given our extremely poor manners as a neighbor, we'd likely be 100% on our own if it happened again.

The question media should be asking: if Minneapolis only needs 600 police officers to perform all general law enforcement activities in the city, why did Trump send 3,000 federal agents to execute a statutorily and constitutionally *much* smaller task?

Answer? He wanted a *war*.

People want to have their basic needs met.

They want to be paid a living wage.

They want to stop being nickle and dimed by powerful corporations who control so much of our lives.

They do not want Venezuela.

They do not want Greenland.

They do not want masked thugs terrorizing our communities.

Call your reps. Let them know that if they vote for ICE funding, you will not vote for them ever again.

Representatives need to feel the heat. NO on ICE funding. No excuses.
So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.

There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.

Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

24 hours. Go.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

JD Vance says fewer undocumented immigrants means Americans can finally afford homes.

So which is it?

They “don’t work” and “live on welfare” — or they’re somehow buying up all the houses?

Pick a lie.

I would've been slow to move back to the Post-Gazette because I boycotted it 100% during the strike. But the @pghcitypaper.com's demise is just a gut punch. Having witnessed the 2013 death of the Boston Phoenix, an absolute institution Boston's metro for decades, this brutality is far too familiar.
The closing of the CP and the PG aren't just like, a bummer, or like a regular fuck-the-Blocks moment. It's a drastic reduction in citizens' ability to stay informed and hold our local government accountable, which in today's political environment will have consequences that make my head spin.
