CHOTINER: But you knew they were probably being saved for breakfast?

W: Yes.

C: Of course, you’d been close to starving

Tremendously excited to be producing this essential box set
UK: Original and spontaneous, Jacques Rozier’s cinema was attuned to the beauty and heartbreak of chance.

Our box set TIME TO PLAY collects all five of his features (as well as shorts), plus a documentary on Rozier and archival interviews.

Haven’t baked as many chicken pies as I would have liked to this year, but at least today’s LOTR-themed creation (made to coincide with our New Year’s Eve watching) is one of my all-time best.

Absolutely thrilled to be publishing such a wonderful essay from Robert. Bringing back long-form pieces on Animus has been a highlight of my year.
🎬 NEW LONG-FORM ESSAY 🎬
As queer rights are under threat and queer representation in commercial cinema in retreat, looking back at the careers of queer directors from Code-era Hollywood can be more than a chance to revisit great films. By Robert Stinner: animus-magazine.ghost.io/queer-auteur...
Queer Auteurism under Censorship: On George Cukor and Mitchell Leisen
Navigating Code-era censorship in contrasting ways, both of these directors created bodies of work that were undeniably, vibrantly queer.

Even if you're not someone who spends a lot of time in cinemas trying not to lose it whenever someone's wrist suddenly lights up during a movie, the smart watch is an awful invention, and it's obviously helped normalise meta glasses which beautiful women worldwide must destroy with their bare hands.
