one of the most important people to have in your life is the person you have casual sex with one or two times a month with whom you’ve built a surprisingly caring relationship. that person will carry you through anything

i successfully conditioned my cat to just nap on my desk while waiting for breakfast instead of trying to swat at anything in reach to make me get up. however, the other cat, who can only have gross allergy food, now also whines at me until i feed mine so he can rush in after and sniff for scraps
i now clear my desk off before bed every night and every morning he's there glowering at me like a gargoyle
the cat figured out that sitting on my keyboard created urgency that would get me out of bed to feed him in the morning. i mitigated this by training myself to turn the keyboard off when i'm not using it. as of this morning he's escalated his methods to prying keys out with his claws

"Get his ass” Is so unreasonably funny to me. A huge win for the English language. Today's version of "seize him" imo

i love how on a macro design level the civilization games' conception of world history is absurd and rancid yet the handwave simplifications and weak jokes and weird rng accidents capture the real course of history so accurately as to be uncanny

i'm going to set all of my twitter brain reflexive caveats aside and say it's been so unbelievably long since I've seen anyone with this level of power even give lip service to a value I hold deeply and work to promote & safeguard in my everyday life and it made my heart swell to read
Pope Leo absolutely cooking

games are an extreme example but i've been astonished at how boldly the entire PMC have abandoned basic personnel management in the 20s. & when you try to confront them (individually or collectively) the response is either smol bean bellyaching or akin to trying to confront a proud road rager
the reason people still want to go indie and put themselves at tremendous risk is not wanting to put up with this kind of shit anymore. it's completely insane and completely humiliating how normal it is for companies like this to put people through all kinds of weird torture to prove their worth
3 years ago today, Riot Games offered me a job making more money than I ever thought I’d make in my life. I had 19 interviews over 2.5 months to get it. Partner and I were moving to LA for it. I put in notice at my job and apartment.

2 weeks later they rescinded the offer due to “headcount issues”.

i started a music blog so deranged that it changes color when you refresh it. it updates wednesdays and the first post is about madonna's most eminently forgotten album by way of brostep, the closet, conservative art, and llm aesthetics megacritic.follyof.men#20251112-MDNA
If you're on this website, you don't need me to tell you that Italy loves Madonna. She was rolling out an album both times I've visited. I have this crystalline memory of the 4 Minutes video on a café tv in Vatican City - Jonas and François doubling down on Madonna and Justin's did-they-or-didn't-they bait with a mashup of Body Worlds and Raimi's Spiderman, down the street from the headquarters of a religion whose theology states they'd literally burn for literal eternity if they did, with 80% of its host country claiming adherence - one of those formative moments of feeling without understanding that all this is a lot more messy and mixed-up than I'd been told. A few years later I was messy and mixed-up too, convincing myself that I was merely "half-out" of the closet while listening to MDNA on loop on a schooltrip. The truth was that everyone knew but most people didn't know what to say - a catholic might make a gospel-disco megahit pointing directly at her faith community's contradictions, but evangelicals prefer to quarantine the glitches in their matrix with whisper networks and closed-door pastoral visits, so often their only defense against a compulsively visible fuckup is sweatily talking around it. "Great track, weird video," said one of the boys I was rooming with when we caught the hunks-in-heels "Girl Gone Wild" clip on TV before bed in Florence. My memory gives his voice a retrospectively familiar tone, like he expected me to respond (I knew not to by then) yet feared what I might say.

abolish drive thrus i am not joking in the slightest
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

capitalism is mankind's most evil invention by any quantitative measure but it also gave us that sublime facial expression your coworker makes at you that says "the boss is a fucking idiot and i'm not doing any of what they just said" so who's to say if it's good or bad really

i love being a music pervert i was just UTTERLY enraptured by the sound of a fridge humming in the taco shop. i was practically overcome when it abruptly stopped and the clatter of dishes being washed rushed in to fill the silence

like clockwork i miss a creatine dose and get woken up multiple times by variations of the same nightmare where I'm one of a few new hires at a job and our boss decides which of us to keep on by sending us to army bootcamp like they do with actors doing war movies to see who survives longest
like clockwork i miss a creatine dose and get woken up at 2am by a dream about taking a job at a real estate firm emptying possessions out of a repo'd home that turns out to be a silent hill netherworld house tormenting the crew for our sins. my brain may have been trying to write a Monopoly movie
i really can't thank @katie.bzky.team enough because creatine turned my night terrors off like a light switch. two of the most stressful months of my life without bolting awake or being visited by a shadow being once

100% vindicated
if you watch Indecent Proposal and think "wow that couple reminds me a lot of where my parents were at that time" Indecent Proposal is a movie about how your parents probably actually witnessed some at least tangential Epstein shit
Indecent Proposal is a movie about Jeffrey Epstein

the funniest thing about this is No Time To Die literally has The Next Bond as a supporting character and works hard to give that character an onramp to continue the series but she is a black woman and even the movie itself is too afraid to follow through and has her give up the 007 code at the end
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

listen Björk is my literal mother but one thing John Cale's not gonna do is "collab" with his torchbearers by shooting over an instagram dm with a google drive link to an mp3 of some stock John Cale sentiments with a giant obvious splice point in the middle
real ball knowers realize that this is way closer to classical music (via its postwar experimental forms) than what Rosalía is trying to do. Also John Cale is involved. Experimental music pedigree

the phrase you are looking for is "art of the deal"
Trying to find the right imagery to describe the caving Dem senators and I’m stuck somewhere between “landed fish flopping on a boat deck” and “guys tidying up the ballroom as the Titanic sinks”

proposing a corollary to the "everyone is twelve" theory i'm calling "and if not they're seventeen," positing that countercultural affect/social dynamics have regressed in parallel to those of the mainstream, by way of both unconscious capitulation and attempted corrective
