We've still got Teruyo Nogami, Kurosawa's assistant-turned-documentarian, and who is 98.

We've got Kyōko Kagawa at 93, youngster Akira Terao at 78.

But for *STARS* - actors who led those hard-hitting dramas and trend-setting genre films of the golden age - this is it. This is the end. RIP Nakadai.
Farewell to one of brightest stars of the golden age of Japanese cinema: Nakadai Tatsuya, who starred in some of history's greatest films, has passed away at the age of 92. Major roles included those in Ran, Hara Kiri, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Kagemusha, The Human Condition, and many more.

it is unlimited.

Might be the most truth ever delivered in one thread.
you see vc guys crowing about how with ai "anyone can write a novel!"

speaking as someone who has in fact written a novel (not a very good one), this speaks to a familiar misunderstanding of the difficulty of the creative process--in particular, how much conception there is in execution

SNAP is not the reason your taxes are high.

SNAP recipients don’t need to “just go get a job”.

Most of them work. The rest are disabled, elderly, children or caregivers.

People need & deserve assistance

Your taxes fund wars and tax cuts for the ultra rich

Be mad about that

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

Most autistic people I meet *like* being autistic. It’s core to who they are & comes with many strengths

What’s hard is surviving in a society that rarely accommodates, respects or tries to understand us

There’s a BIG difference between being autistic & being unsupported

Let’s not confuse the two

Damn.

Itagaki’s handiwork on 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 and 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘫𝘢 𝘎𝘢𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯 during the OG Xbox years were such a formative part of my young adolescence.

Farewell, Master Ninja. 🫡
Today I lost someone who was truly like a brother to me. I am gutted to the core. I guess I can say so now that it's on his Facebook page. He even listed himself as my actual brother on Facebook. Anyone who knows me knows how close we were. RIP, senpai. You will always be a ninja.

Our nation's federal employees are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet.

They make sure we have clean water.

They protect us from financial fraud.

They provide healthcare to our communities.

They make our government actually work for people.

Do not forget this.
