Fuentes then fantasizes about “breeding gulags”: “So just like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists, you know, all of his political rivals, we have to do the same thing with women… They go to the breeding gulags. The good ones will be liberated. The bad ones will toil in the mines forever.”

WaPo editorial board when TX imposes a legislative gerrymander: don't freak out guys! Not a threat to democracy!

When VA responds to TX with *referendum* on their own gerrymander: brass-knuckled hypocrisy, anti-democratic gamesmanship.

There is hypocrisy here, all right, but not from VA.

I think this is great news.

Protesting had become so normalized that clueless billionaire lickspittles think they can get one going for absolutely anything.

As things get worse even more people are going to be in the streets for real issues.
I can't think of anything I'd want to do less with my time than attending a protest against taxing billionaires. This is an insane amount of bootlicking energy.

It was unclear if Mr. Trump was aware that bullets were in the gun before he fired it. It was unclear if he knew that firing those bullets into a random person on 5th Ave might cause their death. It was unclear if it was Mr. Trump’s finger who pulled the trigger, or that of an unnamed staffer.

I get this impulse but I think that focusing on the Kleins & Kirks misses what it does for the people who agree with you & people likely to agree with you.

People protesting strengthens your side. Yesterday someone proudly told me that they were teaparty & then Trump.

It's for us, not them.
/4…so to the extent Ezra Klein expected a kind reaction, it was a reflection of reality-detached narcissism.

Ultimately, though, shouting him down probably helped him and the Charlie Kirks of the world more than it hurt them.

One of the things I adore about these suggestions is their specificity.

Nothing listed would be radical by any reasonable definition of the word.
Congress is going to respond with some "sensitivity training" level bandaid solution.

What needs to happen is for ICE to be removed from the Department of Homeland Security, sent back to the Justice Department and stripped of its national security mandate. Bare minimum.

I love this photo of today’s anti-ICE march in Minneapolis. Despite the frigid temperature, tens of thousands of people gathered with unity, righteous fury, and inspiring signs. And other kinds of signs.

Primary challenger to one of the seven Democrats who just voted to fund ICE.
Our community deserves someone willing to stand up and deliver impactful leadership. And yet Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez, along with 6 other Democrats in the House, just voted through a funding bill that will give ICE billions of dollars with minimal guardrails.

Roger's, Sesame Street were very political but we were kids, we didn't know.

fundamental problem for centrists (no idea if Sanchez is centrist):

Fights leftist win become norms then "centrist" think the left has never done anything.

Most of the moral messaging in children's television programming when I was a kid was utterly uncontroversial at the time, and would be attacked as woke indoctrination today.

For those outside the Twin Cities, the person posting this GoFundMe is a member of Minneapolis city council (and among the many locals doing absolutely heroic resistance to ICE), so it's legit.

You are doing the right thing. It sucks to be under siege but you are under siege. And you won't be free while these law enforcement agencies continue to exist.
I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.

I hope everyone pays attention to how reporting frames this,to how politicians frame this.

"Concern" is not be enough.
DHS's first official statement is out, and they call the woman who was shot a domestic terrorist who they claim was trying to kill an ICE agent.

As a reminder, Tricia McLaughlin's post-shooting statements have been proven to be false MULTIPLE times in the past. They are simply not trustworthy.
