Great new postdoc fellowship for foundational plant research.
If you’re into genetics and genomics of plant reproductive evolution or adaptive convergence (incl in the cool and charismatic nightshades!) I’d be happy to talk about possible projects!

I am begging Canadians to understand that Canada Post, like public transit, should not be a business - it's a service.
Canada Post is a lifeline for rural, remote and Northern communities and overall, we need to re-evaluate why people think they "need" random shit delivered ASAP.

The government is reducing service standards and Canada Post’s biggest advantage: its nationwide network.
This plan is about cutting back the postal service instead of investing to give it new revenue tools through things like postal banking. It’s shameful.

For 15 yrs, I’ve co-organized informal, volunteer, peer mentoring for women in my college to help them navigate being outnumbered in dept, sexist colleagues, or professing while pregnant.

I get that it's kind of expected, especially in this job market. But I'm a social anxiety-ridden introvert. LinkedIn is the bane of my existence.

Three Asian history classes. First was a gen ed, took the other two b/c Dr. Otto was so great to learn from.
And gymnastics. Which apparently was for the cheer team to get extra tumbling reps in. But damn I was proud I could land a front handspring by the end of the semester.

I want people in college to take a class on something interesting, and have an unexpected formative experience that in no way becomes their explicit undergraduate focus. And I worry – I know – that this happens less and less often.

A big part of the problem our society finds itself in is that we reward anti-social behavior.
Publicly lying should be the end of the career of any press-facing professional. Like data fabrication would end the career of a scientist.
But it's not. So they lie.
