They're also responsible for one of the best emails I've ever received, when the college office sent out a plea for sightings of Professor Biscuit while conveniently forgetting to mention that he was a cat...(I won't comment on how often a similar email might have gone out about human Professors...)

It's Friday afternoon, so who wouldn't want to enter the weekend with one more round of my patented bubble plots of British politics? In this final (one hopes) of my mini-series I look at who the 'odd ones out' of British politics are. Who is 'out of touch' with the rest of the public. Let's see 1/n

By-election set for the 29th of January. A near three way tie in first preferences resolves incredibly easily in the Lib Dems' favour if we re-run 2022 for one seat, at 52% vs the SNP's 31.8%. Given the shape of the area, I'd expect the Lib Dems to be easy favourites here.

The timing of this being broadcast was, by chance, incredible. Heseltine triggered the leadership election on 14 November; Thatcher was out on 28 November
The first episode of House of Cards was broadcast on this day in 1990.

For the benefit of any doubt I am joking, but at the same time it’s fairly baffling why *any* Labour politician would want it briefed that they take inspiration from Trump’s mass deportation policies.

Spotted something hiding in plain sight in Glasgow yesterday, in Queen Street. Wiki suggests the mottos may be Clan Buchanan, so the CB may indicate that too, or not as the case may be.
Can @walktalktours.bsky.social or any of the other Glasgow experts shed any light?

The thing about architectural conservation is that it’s supposed to transcend the question ‘DO WE LIKE THIS?’.

It’s meant to be about preserving characteristic exemplars of style.

Is there another large exposed aggregate panel building in Scotland? I can’t think of any.

Excellent critique of my post
This is a really interesting analysis but I don't think it's quite the debunking of Labour's strategy that it claims to be. The premise is that strategists believe people who've shifted Lab->Reform since GE24 have different characteristics in marginal constituencies than elsewhere.
A month ago I looked at what I called Labour's midlife crisis- an obsession with chasing socially conservative Reform-curious voters and ignoring groups of disaffected voters with social attitudes much closer to Labour voters. But some people thought there was method in their madness. Was there? 1/n
