James Tassie Pub, Kilmarnock Rd, Glasgow. Tassie was born 1735 in Pollokshaws & trained as portrait medallionist at the Foulis Academy. An artistic & commercial success a 1791 list of his work ran to 15800 items. This 1787 cameo of Adam Smith is believed to be the only authentic portrait of Smith

'Monumentum Tempestatis' - a double fleur de lis plaque affixed to the remains of an Oak Tree on Glasgow Green, close to the Clyde Tidal Weir. It commemorates its felling during Storm Éowyn back in January (2025).

Korean War memorial near Bridge of Sighs entrance to Necropolis - my Dad was sent there for his national service in 1951 in the Royal Corp of Signals & seconded to US Army/UN. He got a UN medal & wrote everything in upper case from then onwards !

The beauty of Beaux Arts and Art Nouveau - the Grand Palais in Paris. Built for the 1900 Universal Exposition it became a hospital during WW1 and used by the Parisian resistance as an HQ during the Liberation of Paris in 1944/5

Upper Upper Clyde Shipyard, former Seath's, Rutherglen. Yard famous for Cluthas, small iron hulled boats. Its closed in 1902 when the weir at Albert Bridge Glasgow stopped sea access. Continued until 1923 as Govan based Chalmers & McKivett - who the name Broomloan to the yard.

The tower of Rutherglen Old Church. Medieval in origin new spire was added in 1710. Originally dedicated to St Conval, a disciple of Kentigern & founded 6th C. Believed that Wallace concluded the peace between England & Scotland here on 8th Feb 1297 #Rutherglen #Ruglen #899
