My endless (and vain?) effort to stay current in this environment means snagging & sharing items as I see them.

Hmph. I'm using fewer hashtags nowadays, and fewer unique ones when I do. That is fixable, at least...

It's true that reading about the emails brought up a situation I had buried but not entirely forgotten. 45 years after the fact, I knew the name, the place, and how I was actually lucky that it wasn't worse.
Just a reminder that the circulation of the Epstein emails, reminding us not just how many people in power are predators... But how society will close ranks to protect them .... That might be hitting you some place soft, for a lot of reasons.
Be gentle with yourself.

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

When my teen asked me about the email dump, then said "Big beautiful Bill" in 45's voice, the Rubicon was crossed.

It's hard to express what it meant to watch Maurice, Natalia, Celeste, and Rhea tell their stories—in their own voices—this morning.

The segment revealed a brutal reality: homelessness at this scale isn't about personal failure. It's the result of policy choices and systems built to exploit people.

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

"when we give young men space to be curious, compassionate, and open, they rise to it. They don’t need to impress anyone. They just do what human beings are capable of when they’re supported and trusted."
Yes, yes!! 👏🏾👏🏾
This week in health class a boy asked: ‘What more can boys do to support girls when they’re on their period?’
The moment made my week, and prompted me to write this blog post as a reflection. I hope it warms your heart.

November's Bending The Arc is out!
In praise of Sinners and Blues. Interesting visit into Library of Congress archives of early Blues recordings. Learned a lot pulling this edition together.

Yes, it's true: I have spent all day in PJs and a bathrobe gradually putting together this newsletter that's about to go out. I have also laughed amply with my teen which feels like cause for celebration. 😊
Happy Sunday, all!

I sailed down a rabbit hole related to the blues and came across LOC recordings which were fascinating. This one of white singer, Marion Harris from 1918, includes a toast (a precursor to rap) and lauds the contribution of Black soldiers in WWI.

Bending The Arc is close to release. IDK, friends, every month feels a little more challenging than the last. My disorientation is real. Is it still a social justice newsletter? Is it still helpful to folks who read it? It seems that less and less what I include relates to the classroom.

With apologies for posting 2 FT articles in quick succession, this is useful phrasing to encapsulate where we are with data centre investment: "the reality is that investors are taking long-term bets on a sector that has already turned on a dime more than once"

Who’s funding Silicon Valley’s data-centre dream? It might be you.

Remember, kids: Satan seeks souls not credit card info.
Remember, if Satan wants you to pay with anything besides your soul, it's a scam. The real Satan won't ask for your social security number or credit card info, he'll just give you money and fix your credit because that makes him popular and cool.
